1. Kraslava State Gymnasium will celebrate its 90th anniversary in June 2014.
At the
moment there are 71 students in Basic school, 175 students in Secondary school and 31 teacher in
school. School headmaster is Janis Tukans.
The school has 4 education programs:
• Basic school program (Forms 7-9);
• general secondary education: mathematics, natural sciences and technologies program (Forms
10-12);
• general secondary education: humanitarian and social sciences program (Forms 10-12);
• general secondary education: main program (Forms 10-12).
Kraslava Gymnasium was founded in 1923. It is located in a three-storey building with 28
classrooms, a library with a reading room, the English Project Centre, two computer labs with 20
computers, two gyms, a school museum and a hostel attached to the main building for students
from the country.
There is also the Regional Computer Centre situated in the gymnasium.
At the end of form 12 students of Kraslava Gymnasium get the General Certificate of
Secondary Education.
During their studies they also participate in different kinds of extracurricular activities: the
school choir, the dance club, the orchestra, the music band, the drama club, the discussion club
“Socrates”, the English club “Lingua” and others.
In addition, they take part in the international projects I*EARN, “Youth”, eTwinning and
Comenius.
