We have students from different educational levels
Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary and High School
coming from places all over Spain and many
other nationalities.
FIGURES: During the 2010-2011academic year,
we had a total of 1584 students.

The hospital
school is
divided
into two main
areas:
We have classes in the morning and afternoon. During the
morning the pupils, depending on their special needs are
attended in classrooms in different wards: oncology,
psychiatry, pediatrics , traumatology and surgery or in
their isolated bedrooms. During the afternoon students
attend part time to the Day Hospital.

school work and enjoy a sense of self worth in
an uncertain environment

OBJETIVES
Keeping in touch with our pupils’ school
teachers from the first moment they are in
hospital and whenever it’s necessary through
official documents, reports and telephone
contact
Offering a strong multidisciplinary collaboration
with other professionals to ensure that the child
global development is considered during the
hospital admission.
Linking with the community through regular
creative art workshops, theatres, story telling
and some other activities
Trying to improve the children self-esteem,
social and academic awareness.
14. METHODOLOGY
We evaluate each new student’s admission and program the pupil’s activities
according with the child's abilities, health status, potential impediments, etc..
It’s an individualized and personalized education, respecting the individual
pace of each student activity.
The activities program must be appropriate to each pupil’s academic and intellectual
level, to their emotional and health status and we design curriculum adaptations that
are appropriate to each pupil.
We use an open, comunicative and active methodology.
The class is organized according to tasks so as to allow cooperative work, flexible
groupings and promote socialization.
It aims to provide a stimulating classroom environment, a warm welcome and an
atmosphere of security and confidence.

18. ART THERAPY IN THE HOSPITAL
In Art therapy students have workshops such as
pottery, drawing, gardening...
Art therapy is a very useful therapeutic complement.
20. CONTESTS AND AWARDS
- 2010 UNICEF Award.
- Christmas cards contests organized by the European
Documentation Center of the Community
of Madrid.
- Contest "Draw Europe" organized by the Ministry of the
Presidency of the Community of Madrid, on the
celebration of Europe Day.
21. CONTESTS AND AWARDS
- Story competition "My family has" organized by the Ministry of Family and
Social Affairs. Winners: five students from Primary Children's Day Hospital
Psychiatry.
- Literary Contest "In my verse I am free", organized by the region of Murcia.
Winner: a Primary Children’s Day Hospital Psychiatry student.
- Contest "Toys made from recyclable materials," organized by the Madrid
Townhall. Winner: a primary student in the Oncology ward.
- Magisterio Español Award.
