3. What’s Our Event?
Our proposed event will focus on a one-bid
auction where bidders are able to bid once of
a donated item of their choosing. The auction
will be held at RMIT, where there will also be
students selling handmade goods. The auction
will adopt a 'garage sale' theme. The moneywe
make from the sale will be donated to The Big
Issue.
5. Who Are We Working With?
• We want to incorporate some community
based organisation or charity like The Big Issue
that we could use to brand the garage
sale/market. This way, people involved with
that organisation would also have a vested
interest in attending our sale.
• People would be more inclined to buy things
as they know it would be going to a good cause
such as The Big Issue.
• It also helps us look more legitimate, as we're
mentioning a very well-respected organisation.
6. • Additionally, anyone who is connected with The
Big Issue through social media will find out
online. They would be forwarded messages
about the event and would have more of an
interest in coming.
• It is better to focus our attention to a specific
group rather than be general with our target
audience. Being too general would create a sort
of 'bystander effect' whereby nobody would
think they need to get involved.

7. How are we going to use Social
Media?
• The marketing of this event is a crucial part
of it being a networked social event. We are
relying on a combination of street press,
social networks as well as support from a
charity if we can get them involved.
9. How are we going to use Social
Media?
• Breaking down the use of social media, we plan
to use Instagram hashtags to network interest
but also generate a list of items that a
participant might want to buy or donate at the
event.
• Twitter will be used in a similar way to fill the
gap for the people that are not on Instagram.
Facebook will be used to host the event, update
participants, and be a central social hub.
10. • Street press with QR codes linking to our social
media sites will be used to gain participants
interest around the site of the proposed event.
If our partner charity comes through we will
hopefully be gaining the extended use of their
social networks to enhance the effectiveness of
the event and it's message.
• Functionality wise, the use of hashtags will be
the main tool for buying and donating items.
Ultimately this will be the critical key to the
projects success.
