4. INTRODUCTION OF NEURALINK
Neuralink Corporation is a
neurotechnology company that
develops implantable brain–
machine interfaces.
Co-founded by Elon Musk, Max
Hodak and Paul Merolla, the
company's headquarters is in San
Francisco

5. PURPOSE OF NEURALINK:
Neuralink's goal is to build something called a "brain
computer interface" that allows people to transmit and
receive information between their brain and a computer
wirelessly.
Neuralink is dedicated to developing a device that,
once implanted in the human brain, would allow a
computer to translate a person’s thoughts into action.

6. It was founded in 2016, Neuralink is developing a brain
implant that aims to link the human brain directly to
computers.
Musk claims this brain-computer interface (BCI) will
enable humans to carry out actions through thought
alone. And one of Musk's first goals: help paraplegics
regain their independence.

7. UNDERSTANDING THE BRAIN:
There Are 86 Billion Neurons
in Your Brain
Neurons send and receive
information. Although neurons
come in many different types.
They generally have three parts:
a dendrite which receives a
signal,
a cell body called a soma which
computes the signal,
an axon which sends a signal
out.

Neurons Communicate
Through Electric Signals

9. INTERFACING WITH THE BRAIN:
The Link:
Neuralink designing the first
neural implant that will let you
control a computer or mobile
device anywhere you go.
Micron-scale threads are inserted
into areas of the brain that control
movement.

14. The chip Neuralink is developing is about the
size of a coin, and would be embedded in a
patients' skull.
From the chip an array of tiny wires, each
roughly 20 times thinner than a human hair, fan
out into the patient's brain.

15. The wires are equipped with 1,024 electrodes
which are able to both monitor brain activity
and, theoretically, electrically stimulate the
brain.
This data is all transmitted wirelessly via the
chip to computers where it can be studied by
researchers.

17. PRECISION AUTOMATED NEUROSURGERY:
The threads on the Link are
so fine and flexible that they
can’t be inserted by the
human hand.
Instead, they designed a
robotic system that the
neurosurgeon can use to
reliably and efficiently insert
these threads exactly where
they need to be.

18. Neuralink has developed a
precision robot to surgically
install the chip underneath
the skull and feed the wires
into the brain
The way the robot would
work is it would use a stiff
needle punch the flexible
wires emanating from a
Neuralink chip into a
person's brain, a bit like a
sewing machine

19. The surgery to insert a Neuralink device as
taking less than an hour.
Musk has said that the entire procedure will be
done by a robotic surgeon, a Neuralink robot,
and he expects the surgery to cost around a few
$1,000 bucks.
The price of 1 Neuralink currently
costs $0.000031.

20. Macaque monkeys have been used
in testing by Neuralink as the
company has been developing
Bluetooth-enabled implantable
chips, inserted into the monkey's
brains
Elon Musk's brain chip company
Neuralink has admitted that the
monkeys used as test subjects for
implants died due to the
experiments.
Neuralink still on track for first
human trials by end of 2022.

21. APPLICATIONS:
Direct Link Between the Brain & Everyday
Technology
The Future of Neural Engineering.
Neuralink is currently focused on making
medical devices. These devices have the
potential to help people with a wide range of
injuries and neurological disorders.
Neuralink's long-term vision is to create BCIs
that are sufficiently safe and powerful that the
general population would want to have them.

22. For Visual Prosthesis
Disease Prediction
Solve Mental Illnesses
The device has the potential to scale to more
channels, more regions. As it goes deeper, the
chances of solving issues related to anxiety, fear
and depression become high.

23. ELON MUSK SAYS:
It could: create "symbiosis"
between the human mind and
computers; "shed some light
on consciousness;" allow
people to "save and replay
memories;" cure paralysis,
blindness, memory loss, and
other neurological diseases;
enable "superhuman vision,"
or give people the ability to
summon their Tesla
telepathically.

24. ADVANTAGES OF NEURALINK:
Effect to the World Education
Effect to the World Medicine
Increased communication and collaboration between
humans and AI.
Improved quality of life for people with disabilities.
Increased ability to learn and remember information.
Enhanced creativity and problem solving ability.
Ability to control devices and prosthetic limbs with your
mind.
Increased understanding of the human brain.
10/17/2023 24
25. DISADVANTAGES OF NEURALINK:
Potential for abuse and misuse.
Invasion of privacy.
Unintended negative consequences of BCIs, such as
addiction, anxiety, or depression.
Difficulty in removing or repairing BCIs if they
malfunction.
Increased risk of brain injury or infection.
High cost of BCI technology.
Limited research on the long-term effects of BCIs.
The value of human feelings will fade off.

26. CONCLUSION
Neuralink is undeniably the future technology, that can
heal multiple disorders.
We know for sure that by 2025, technology like
Neuralink will be widely available to everyone. There
will be an increased focus on brain-computer
interfaces, which will make our brains smarter and our
lives easier.
With an artificial intelligence system in place, society
could one day progress past the point of needing to
worry about wars, natural disasters, or biological
disasters.
