3. CASE SCENARIO
It happens all the time: good employees get a promotion, and
suddenly, they’re not so good anymore. Such is the case for a cat
shelter, “Paw Needs Families”, as Della, a cleaner turned assistant
manager.
Then the new manager started arriving late, letting applications sit,
and slipped on inoculations, all serious offenses.
Instead of confronting Della directly, general meetings were held,
and an assistant manager was hired to compensate for Della’s
shortcomings.
Ultimately, Della never cleaned up her act, and was fired.
Many experts said the situation could have been avoided.

• Euthanizing terminally ill and old
aged cats

Della neglected the responsibilities assigned to her after she has

that the message will be
uninterrupted and clear.
• Della will have a chance to
negotiate.
• Stimulates a sense of
belongingness.
DISADVANTAGES
• A conflict may incur.
• Manager may have a hard
time to confront / Show
cowardice.
• Communication may not be
made if Della refuses to
reciprocate.
8. ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES:

towards her responsibilities.

Directly confront Della.
STATEMENT OF REASONING:
The issue shall remain confidential between the manager and Della.
This reduces the likelihood of her getting embarrassed in front of
her co-workers.
10. CHOICE OF ACA - IMPLEMENTATION
• A meeting will be held with her manager
• Point out unwanted behavior
• Della reciprocates
• Manager gets the chance to listen
- Regarding the work place: the manager will be able to create a
solution through negotiations, positive reinforcements (rewards,
encouragements, pep talks, etc) or change the workplace
atmosphere and make sure that it’s comfortable for everyone
- Irrelevant to work place: the manager may suggest that she
needs to seek help.
11. CHOICE OF ACA - IMPLEMENTATION
• The manager should be consistent with the changes he made
• Make sure to check on Della every now and then to ensure her
productivity and wellness.
• Della’s attitude will not only change in the workplace but it would
also affect her outside of work. This method will improve her as an
employee and as a person.
• On the other hand, the manager gains more experience dealing
with employees and earns Della’s trust.
