1. Pitches
‘Scarlett’ Pitch
Scarlett is about an abandoned girl at an orphanage. After a caring mother adopts her, things start
going wrong. Scarlett is made to seem evil; the psychological twist will confuse everyone.
We will be taking advantage of the codes and conventions of a typical horror trailer. We chose to
have our trailer on psychological/thriller sub-genre ass not only are they popular with contemporary
audiences, but also due to the fact that the audience will be drawn into the trailer. The fact that its
psychological will make people think about what has happened to the little girl and how she knows
the ‘secret’. After talking with the group, we decided to that we didn’t want to have a horror film
that is slasher because they are quite typical and we wanted to challenge ourselves.
We called the trailer/film “Scarlett” because the word relates itself to the colour red, which
connotes passion, danger, love and lust; this is because we want Scarlett to be a character like this
within the trailer.
‘Fast’ Pitch
A young boy is met with a murderous motive after uncovering his ancestor’s criminal past.
We decided that the plot was quite strong but there was a part, which were quite hard and would be
a struggle to try and produce. We concluded that this wouldn’t be the trailer that we wanted to do.
More than anything, we couldn’t find a male actor to play the main part in the trailer. We
researched horror films with female leading characters and found that this is what we want in our
horror film. Women in horror films are occasionally responsible for a mass death but there Is often a
reason behind their action.
The name fast is combining the ‘past’ and the ‘future’. Also, those who were to be killed in the trailer
would die quickly and painlessly relating to the process of death being ‘fast’
