What is improved?
We understand you have been facing problems with regards to settlement of payments like:
• Why sometimes the amount I get is different from the amount I am expecting?
As per my total orders received, I have to get a payment of Rs. 7,000/- and my returns stand at Rs. 6,000/- So, my
total payment to be received should be Rs. 1,000/- But, I have received Rs. 4,000/- How?
• Why some of my payments are not being made on time?
I have made a sale of Rs. 3,000/- and haven’t received my payment within the specified cycle. Why?
To clear all this confusion, Flipkart has come up with new features on your seller portal. But, first let us understand
about the payment procedure in detail.

What is improved?
Agenda
Flipkart makes 4 types of settlements to you under 2 different accounts (depending on orders or settlement type):
1) Postpaid account– This includes payments for Cash-on-Delivery (COD) orders, protection fund, promotional
transactions or any other services like ads.
Settlement Types:
a. Postpaid – Orders against COD
b. TDS – Reimbursement for deduction of TDS (tax applicable on Flipkart commission and shipping fees)
c. Protection –Payment related to Seller Protection Fund
2) Prepaid account– This includes payments for orders made through debit/credit card, net banking etc.
Settlement Types:
a. Prepaid – Orders against debit/credit cards, net banking, EGV and wallet

Payment Settlements – Understanding the Method
Flipkart treats postpaid and prepaid orders in separate settlement accounts. Let us understand this with
an example:
For the above period, the net amount that Flipkart owes you is Rs.1,000 (4,000-3000). But, instead of paying you
Rs.1,000, Flipkart pays you Rs.4,000.
This is because Flipkart makes payments against individual accounts only, independent of each other. This means
that you receive payment only against your postpaid account and not prepaid account, as the balance for prepaid
account is negative. So, you actually receive a settlement amount which is different from what you had expected.

Note: All figures are indicative and have been used for the purpose of illustration.
Payment Settlements – Understanding the Method
Let us take another example and understand how and when payment/settlement will be made to an account in
which the balance becomes negative – irrespective of whether it is a postpaid or prepaid account.

In this example, let us assume that the settlement due
dates are Dec 8th(Mon), 10th(Wed), 12th(Fri), and
15th(Mon).
However, you will not receive any payment on the
first three dates mentioned above because on those
dates, your balance is either negative or zero.
The balance finally becomes positive on Dec 15th and
therefore, you will receive the due amount (Rs.2000)
on Dec 15th. This is why you may think that payments
are not being made to you on time.
Note: TDS and SPF payments will keep happening irrespective of the balance (negative or positive) in either of the
accounts.

To help you gain more clarity, we have introduced these two types of accounts on your seller portal!
This new feature will give you the following benefits:
1) Better clarity on the settlement type
2) Ability to reconcile payments better without any confusion
3) Better understanding about the total unsettled amount
Payment Settlements – Solution on Your Seller Portal!
Login to your account. Go to “Payments” tab and choose “Settlements” from the drop down menu. This is how the
new features will be shown:

clearly bifurcated into prepaid
and postpaid accounts
Click on any settlement
reference number for
more details
A separate column will show
what the settlement type is
Once you click on any reference number the below page appears:

How to get Transactions Report for each order
Step 1: Select ‘Order ID’ from the
dropdown and search for an Order ID
Step 2: Choose ‘Settled
Transactions’ or Unsettled
Transactions’ and select a date
range from ‘Settlement Date’.
The new Transactions tab
• Check all the transactions on your orders
• See the Settlement Value against returned and cancelled orders as per date
• Analyse the fees charged for an order at different levels
Step 4: Click on ‘Download’ to
download the Transaction
report
What is improved
Settlement Value: Now, you can check the Settlement Value of your order for every order status and settlement date
Order Status: Check all the transactions on your orders made on different dates
Detailed Reports: Get detailed report on all your orders

I have made a sale of Rs. 3,000/- and haven’t received my payment within the specified cycle. Why? To clear all this confusion, Flipkart has come up with new features on your seller portal. Flipkart makes 4 types of settlements to you under 2 different accounts (depending on orders or settlement type): 1) Postpaid account– This includes payments for Cash-on-Delivery (COD) orders, protection fund, promotional transactions or any other services like ads. Settlement Types: a. Postpaid – Orders against COD b. TDS – Reimbursement for deduction of TDS (tax applicable on Flipkart commission and shipping fees) c. Protection –Payment related to Seller Protection Fund 2) Prepaid account– This includes payments for orders made through debit/credit card, net banking etc. Settlement Types: a. Prepaid – Orders against debit/credit cards, net banking, EGV and wallet Payment settlement- Prepaid and Postpaid account

  • 8. Payment Settlements – Understanding the Method Flipkart treats postpaid and prepaid orders in separate settlement accounts. Let us understand this with an example: For the above period, the net amount that Flipkart owes you is Rs.1,000 (4,000-3000). But, instead of paying you Rs.1,000, Flipkart pays you Rs.4,000. This is because Flipkart makes payments against individual accounts only, independent of each other. This means that you receive payment only against your postpaid account and not prepaid account, as the balance for prepaid account is negative. So, you actually receive a settlement amount which is different from what you had expected. Date Postpaid Account (Rs.) Payment Settlements – Understanding the Method Let us take another example and understand how and when payment/settlement will be made to an account in which the balance becomes negative – irrespective of whether it is a postpaid or prepaid account. Date Order Value Balance Settlement Amount 01-Dec 5000 5000 - 03-Dec -6000 (returns) -1000 - 08-Dec -2000 (returns) -3000 Nil - negative balance 10-Dec 1000 -2000 Nil - negative balance 12-Dec 2000 0 Nil - zero balance 15-Dec 2000 2000 2000 In this example, let us assume that the settlement due dates are Dec 8th(Mon), 10th(Wed), 12th(Fri), and 15th(Mon). However, you will not receive any payment on the first three dates mentioned above because on those dates, your balance is either negative or zero. The balance finally becomes positive on Dec 15th and therefore, you will receive the due amount (Rs.2000) on Dec 15th. This is why you may think that payments are not being made to you on time. Note: TDS and SPF payments will keep happening irrespective of the balance (negative or positive) in either of the accounts. Note: All figures are indicative and have been used for the purpose of illustration.

This new feature will give you the following benefits: 1) Better clarity on the settlement type 2) Ability to reconcile payments better without any confusion 3) Better understanding about the total unsettled amount Payment Settlements – Solution on Your Seller Portal!
  • 12. Login to your account. Go to “Payments” tab and choose “Settlements” from the drop down menu. This is how the new features will be shown: Payment Settlements – Changes on Your Seller Portal Total unsettled amount is clearly bifurcated into prepaid and postpaid accounts Click on any settlement reference number for more details A separate column will show what the settlement type is

  • 15. How to get Transactions Report for each order Step 1: Select ‘Order ID’ from the dropdown and search for an Order ID Step 2: Choose ‘Settled Transactions’ or Unsettled Transactions’ and select a date range from ‘Settlement Date’.
  • 16. The new Transactions tab • Check all the transactions on your orders • See the Settlement Value against returned and cancelled orders as per date • Analyse the fees charged for an order at different levels Step 4: Click on ‘Download’ to download the Transaction report
