The hatchery was completed in 1971 at Capilano River Regional Park. It aims to restore and rehabilitate fisheries habitat while promoting a clean environment. Visitors can see various species of salmon at different lifecycle stages, as well as the hatchery's fish production efforts. The hatchery focuses on sustainability across economic, natural resource, carbon reduction, capital project, civic engagement, ecosystem, land use, and education dimensions.
