The document discusses what the author has learned about various technologies from constructing their magazine product.
They learned that the internet is a powerful research tool for finding images, text, and videos. They used blogging platforms like Blogger to organize research and record their work, which helped in the magazine creation process.
The author also learned about good photography techniques like camera angles, positioning, and lighting from both taking their own photos and researching magazine covers online. Photoshop allowed them to manipulate images through methods like brightness and contrast adjustments.
While Quark was more limited than Photoshop, the author found it effective for page layout and designing their contents page to a professional standard.

1. Q6 What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this
product?
1. The internet as a research tool
While researching I used the internet to find photo’s such as the Drum! Magazine
front cover photo.
As shown in the photo there is a wide range of different things you can search
such as text, images and videos very easily.
I think that the internet is the most useful research method out there, there is
nothing you cant find on the internet, I used the internet to find photo’s and research
on magazine publishers for Question 3.
And I also did research on other publishers such as IPC and Bauer.
2. 2. Blogging as a method of organising and arranging research and planning
materials.
In my project I used blogging websites such as blogger to record my work for my
exam, I think that this was very useful in the process of making my magazine.
I also think that what blogger was useful for was making a diary of my work and
recording my work, it is also very easy to upload images such as my prelim, and my
original images.
Websites like slide share also helped a lot as I wouldn’t have been able to get my
publication plans on to my blog.
3. 3. Digital Cameras and how to use them to produce good images.
In this topic I had already had known a lot about using a camera and how they work
and settings etc.
But what media taught me with camera’s is camera angles and positioning of the
photo, you really have to get a good position and angle to get the right photo for a
front cover.
I also learnt a lot from researching on the internet other magazines and how they
portray their front cover photo’s and how they have been taken.
Lighting is also key in photo’s, I learnt that angles the lighting is coming from can
create shadows that also add to the effect of the photo.
4. Photoshop
I found that using Photoshop was perhaps my favourite part of the project as it is the
part I am best at, I found that manipulating images was very easy, I used methods
such as brightness and contrast to manipulate the images to improve them to suit my
magazine.
I think that designing the front page was the hardest bit because as I went on I
changed so many things on my magazine, I changed my title a lot and it was hard to
find the right design for my type of magazine.
I think that while using Photoshop I learnt how to manipulate lighting to create
different shadow effects and improve an image or edit it to the style of photo that I
wanted it to be.
5. Quark
I found quark harder to use than anything else, it was a very basic programme but not
many things that you could use to improve a photo or text and make it look better.
What I mainly used quark for was my contents page and my double page spread, I
think that for layout quark is very easy to lay a page out the way you want it too, and I
think that it was very easy to lay out my contents page to a very professional look just
the way I wanted it to be.
I used quark also to place things around and set things around, it wasn’t really useful
apart from text and layout though.
