I have undertaken research surveys and academic research. Having successfully submitted my research
proposal on Exploring the Structure of Education for solid waste management, I have learnt to apply
some of the ethical considerations in research such as confidentiality and the need to respect
respondents. The relevance of this research whose main objective was to ascertain how the structure of
education for solid waste management should be at Soweto market proved that Zambia recognises
education as an important element in addressing poor solid waste management. Pursuant to the section
on environmental education and public awareness as contained in the National Policy on Environment
(2007:23), guiding principle (s) states that “An environmental information, education and
communication programme to enhance public understanding and awarenessshallbe targetedto all those
in public and private sectors whose activities affect the environment in one way or another”.
I have worked as a research assistant on cross border movement of timber at different border points
under the Intra African Trade Project. Learnt to take care of myself as well as respecting myself as I
was far away from home. In addition, I also learnt to relate well with people of a different cultural
setting.
I have also assessed the health and safety status of work environments as an environmental protection
officer. Am knowledgeable in designing programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent
disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors and the laws
and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals at the workplace.

success was achieved in changing peoples’ attitude towards good management of solid waste. Hence
