RESEARCH, RAPPORTEURING AND REPORT WRITING EXPERIENCE
September – October 2016: Field Supervisor, Transcriber, Data Coder and Data Analyst
I worked with the African Population & Health Research Center (APHRC) in a Process
Evaluation (Round Two) of the Tayari ECDE Programme – an ECDE Model being piloted and
implemented by Research Triangle Institute (RTI) in Nairobi, Laikipia, Uasin Gishu and Siaya
Counties in Kenya. As a Field Supervisor for Uasin Gishu County, I coordinated both the
Qualitative and Quantitative Data Collection Process, administered the Field Work petty cash and
supervised the Field Interviewers. As a Transcriber I transcribed twenty two In-Depth Interviews
and four Focus Group Discussions. The Interviews raged between forty five minutes to two hours
and were conducted in English, Kiswahili and Kikuyu. I further translated those conducted in
Kiswahili and Kikuyu into English. I coded fifty two Transcripts, generated the Coding Reports,
did the Data Analysis and contributed to the Final Report Writing.
July – August 2016: Data Coder and Data Analyst
I worked with APHRC in an Evaluation of the Health Spending and Absorptive Capacity of
Recipient Countries for the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM). The study was
commissioned by the African Constituencies Bureau and targeted Burkina Faso and Zambia as
Case Studies. Results obtained from this inquiry were to be used to validate common anecdotal
views on absorptive capacity across African Constituents receiving Global Fund Grants. I coded ten
Transcripts, generated the Coding Reports and contributed to the Final Report Writing.
May – June 2016: Data Coder and Data Analyst
I worked with APHRC in the Final Project Evaluation of “The Partnership for Maternal,
Newborn and Child Health (PAMANECH)” Project that was implemented in Viwandani and
Korogocho slums in Nairobi. The Project sought to assess the impact of strengthening public –
private partnerships for the delivery of healthcare on the health of mothers, newborns and young
children in Kenya. I coded fifty Transcripts, generated the Coding Reports and contributed to the
Final Report Writing.
March – April 2016: Transcriber and Data Analyst

I worked with GOAL Kenya in a number of Training Workshops targeting Community Health
Volunteers (CHVs) and Community Health Committee (CHC) Members under the Community
Health Strategy Program of the Ministry of Health. For the CHVs we trained 100 CHVs drawn
from Bakiri View and Fuata Nyayo ‘A’ Community Units (CU) Makadara Sub-County in CHVs
Health Strategy. The training was meant to equip the participants with knowledge and skills
necessary to enable them to effectively and efficiently execute their duties and responsibilities as
3. CHVs. I facilitated the Community Governance and Leadership Module. As a Rapporteur I was in
charge of the training logistics, safe custody of training materials and equipment, taking notes of
all training proceedings and compiling the Final Training Report for each Community Unit (CU).
For the CHC Members we trained 60 CHC Members drawn from Commercial, Bakiri View, Fuata
Nyayo A and Fuata Nyayo B Community Units in Makadara Sub-County CHC Health Strategy.
The training was meant to equip the participants with requisite skills and knowledge necessary to
enable them to effectively and efficiently run their Community Units and supervise the
Community Health Volunteers who work under them. I facilitated the Practice of Leadership and
Management and Conflict Management and Resolution in the CU Modules. As a Rapporteur I was
in charge of the training logistics, safe custody of training materials and equipment, taking notes of
all training proceedings and compiling the Final Training Report for each Community Unit (CU).
June – July 2014: Rapporteur and Training Facilitator
I worked with GOAL Kenya in a number of Training Workshops targeting Community Health
Volunteers (CHVs) under the Community Health Strategy Program of the Ministry of Health. We
trained 150 CHVs drawn from Kariadudu, Kasabuni and Glucola Community Units in Kasarani
Sub-County in Community Health Strategy focussing on Maternal, Neonatal (Newborn) and Child
Health (MNCH). The training was meant to equip the participants with requisite skills and
knowledge to enable them play an advisory role in promoting health seeking behaviour among
pregnant or expectant and lactating or breastfeeding mothers. This was especially for ante-natal
health care and post-natal health care services including immunizations. I facilitated the
Counselling and Communication Skills Module. As a Rapporteur I was in charge of the training
logistics, safe custody of training materials and equipment, taking notes of all training proceedings
and compiling the Final Training Report for each Community Unit (CU).
January 2014 – September 2014: Principal Investigator
Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies – University of Nairobi. I conducted a
Research Study Titled “Reconciliation in Divided Societies: A Case Study of the Kenyan Truth,
Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC)”. The study sought to investigate the extent to
which the Kenyan TJRC succeeded in fostering reconciliation among divided societies in Kenya. As
the Principal Investigator, my duties included Questionnaire design, Literature Review, Sampling
of the study population, Conducting the fieldwork, Data entry, Data analysis and Final Research
Project Report Writing.
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
April – July 2016: Manager, Examinations
I was the Manager, Examinations – Kenya Institute of Management at our Head Office in
Nairobi. As the Manager, Examinations, I was in charge of overseeing all aspects of examinations
management within the KIM School of Management (KIMSOM). I was responsible for the
smooth running and administration of all KIMSOM examinations and I liaised with the Head of
Examinations, Branch Officers, Training Officers and Academic Committee in respect of
examination requirements, entries, results and communications, ensuring that the School of
Management adhered to all Examination regulations. My duties and responsibilities included:
Preparing, organizing and supervising the examinations management process in accordance
with the regulations laid down by all the examination boards including drawing up
examination timetables
Ensuring that systems used for submission of examination entries and for the receipt,
recording and issuing of results and certificates are working effectively and reviewed on a
regular basis.
4. Receiving and processing requests for remarks, receipt of scripts and appeals against
results, liaising, as required, with relevant colleagues regarding educational aspects of such
actions.
Ensuring all examination papers, materials and stationery are delivered safely to the
Branches, being responsible for their strict security and ensuring completed papers are
dispatched promptly and appropriately.
September 2015 – March 2016: Branch Manager
I was the Branch Manager - Kenya Institute of Management, Kakamega Branch. As the
Branch Manager, I was the Secretary to the Branch Committee and I played the role of quality
assurance in regard to all services offered by the Institute to the expected standards and ensured
that all branch operations were within the provided and approved procedures, rules, regulations
and standards. I was administratively in charge of all the Branch Operations and supervision of all
Branch Staff including the Lecturers. My duties and responsibilities included:
Recruiting students for the institute’s school of Management courses and other programs.
Promoting and popularising other Institute’s services, handling all enquiries on the
Institute services and communicating customer needs to the relevant authorities.

May – August, 2015: Training Officer
I was the Training Officer – Kenya Institute of Management, Kakamega Branch. As the
Training Officer, I was the Principal Assistant to the Branch Manager. I successfully oversaw the
running of the June 2015 Exams and organized two Research Project Oral Defense where fifty nine
students successfully defended their Research Projects. My duties and responsibilities included:
Assisting the Branch Manager drive the strategic plans and budget of the branch.
Supervise and monitor the training and examinations of KIM SOM products.
Ensuring effective implementation of the tuition timetable.
Ensure proper orientation of new students on the KIMSOM rules and regulations and
coordinate student activities within the branch.

January 2012 – December 2014: Projects Manager
I was the Projects Manager at Wachima Agencies Ltd – a Research, Training and
Consultancy firm. As a Projects Manager I provided leadership in project coordination and
management, oversaw the projects implementation, recruited and supervised the technical staff,
ensured timely production of project progress and audit reports, liaised and networked with other
concerned parties and stakeholders in the projects and disseminated all relevant and required
information about the projects. I successfully oversaw the construction of 95% of the company’s
Power Lines construction projects where the results proved that I had saved the company 30%
overheads in my area.
January – December 2011: Dean of Studies
I was a teacher at Midas International Boys High School in Juja - Thika. I taught Chemistry,
Biology, History & Government and English in Form One. I was the Dean of Studies and the
Acting Deputy Principal. As an Acting Deputy Principal I operationized the students’ admission
system and handled the students’ boarding matters. As a Dean of Studies I operationized and
facilitated the implementation of the academic systems and programs in the school. I set the
timetables and allocated academic duties to respective teachers, enhanced the shared learning
approach amongst students and moderated examinations. I also counseled students on both social
5. and career matters. I operationized the “Shared Learning” approaches at the School. In “Shared
Learning” the school used the Pentagon sitting arrangement to enhance discussion and sharing
amongst students and teachers.
