1. Pitch
Take Me Away
This film is about a heroine addict who needs help to overcome his addiction. After being arrested for using the drug in a pubic place and interrogated, he is given the option to either go to jail or let the good cop help him to overcome his addiction. The title originates from the characters thoughts of how he would like to be taken away from reality. The character has two scenarios in which this metaphor becomes applicable, when he is being interrogated and in everyday life through his addiction. Throughout the film he struggles to fight his addiction but the good cop persists to help him and then trains him up to become a cop himself. The good cop then dies near the end of his training and he decides he doesn’t want to continue with his training. The character that plays the bad cop does not agree with the idea to help the heroine addict initially but when his partner dies he takes over and helps to push the addict to follow up on his new career path.
In the opening sequence of the film the two police officers are sat having a drink in a pub. It then cuts to the drug addict preparing to ‘shoot up’. It then cuts back to the two officers and they get up and go to walk over to their car when they come across the junkie sat in a corner next to some bins. They shout to the junkie and he begins to flee, the good cop orders the bad cop to chase after him. The chase continues through streets and side allies until he is caught. The next part of the opening sequence is in a police station and the junkie is being interrogated.
The main creative techniques that we are going to execute are in the chase sequence. When the camera is in a specific place we are going to move towards the camera and when we have used all the space we can we are going to keep completely still staying on the same foot we ended on in a shot so that when we start the next camera shot we will be on that foot for example. This will make the chase flow and give the impression that we haven’t moved the camera and that we are being viewed from a different angle. Also we are going to use the hand held technique for a part in the chase. This was decided when we used this technique in our Preliminary movie and received good feedback from this sequence of the chase. Another technique we are going to use is in the interrogation sequence we are going to make it look as though the camera we are using to record the shot is a CCTV camera in the interrogation room that is property of the police department we will be posing as.
If we were actually going to go through the process of creating this entertainment masterpiece, we would apply for funding from north west vision movie investments. We chose this company because, they offer a wide variety of investment for example they offer grants of £5000 - £25000 for small sized projects or bigger investments for full feature films up to amounts of £150000. Also they operate in the area in which we would base the headquarters of our organisation, which is in Cumbria.
Take me away is LA confidential hits the 21st century. ‘ard!
