Mansions and large houses are often used as locations in crime films to depict the lavish lifestyles of gangsters and the mafia who earn large sums of money through illegal activities. These locations are also where gunfights may break out if rival gangs attack or the police attempt a raid. Police stations and the homes of detectives are typically shown as the headquarters where law enforcement works to find criminals by gathering information and feeding it to colleagues. Cities provide backdrops for car chases or discreet meetings between criminals trying to blend in with crowds. Similarly, nightclubs owned by criminals may host parties or meetings and sometimes become sites of confrontations, as seen in the film John Wick.

2. Mansions/Large houses
Mansions and large houses are mainly used as locations in films to do
with gangsters and the mafia, due to the large amount of money they
produce from committing crimes, gunfights usually occur at these
locations if another gang is attacking another gang, or if the police try
and raid a criminal’s mansion/house. An example of this is in the film
Scarface.

3. Police Stations/Home of the detective
Usually in crime films, there is someone who has a goal of reaching the
criminal and arresting them or killing them, this could be a group of
people at a police station, one policeman at a police station or a
policemen or detective in their home. This is where they work on how
to find the criminal, and to also feed information to colleagues at the
police station about the criminal which will help towards catching him.

4. Cities
Crime films also use a lot of locations in the city, this could be a car
chase or even just a meet spot for criminals who want to blend in with
the crowds when discussing or giving each other things, such as drugs.

5. Nightclubs
Nightclubs are also a common location for crime genres, similar to the
crime films that feature large houses as their settings, the criminal
usually is wealthy enough to have parties at the nightclubs and to
perform meet ups. An example is from the film John Wick, where the
protagonist goes into a night club owned by criminals where action
ensues.
