2.  DLW Is Production Unit Under Ministry Of Railway.
 First Locomotive In Rolled Out In 1964.
 This Is Set In Collaboration With American Locomotive
Company(ALCO) U.S.A In 1961, In Ancient Temple City
VARANASI.
 DLW Exports Locos To
SRILANKA,MALASIA,BANGLADESH,TANJANIA.
 DLW Is Only Manufacture Of Diesel Electric Locomotive With
Both ALCO And General Motors Technology In The World.
 DLW Got Its First ISO Certification In 1997. Recently DLW Has
Obtained “Integrated Quality And Environment Management
System” Certification Based On ISO-9001 And ISO-14001 In
dec,2002.

 The Word “Diesel” Is Derived From The German Inventor
Rudolf Chritian Karl Diesel Who In 1892 Invented The
Diesel Engine.
 Diesel Or Diesel Fuel Is Any Fuel That Is Used To Operate
A Diesel Engine.
 Diesel And Petrol Both Are Petrolium Product Yet Diesel Is
More Used.
 Most Commonly , It Refers To A Specific Liquid Fuel
Obtain By The Fraction Distillation Of Petroleum Often
Called Petro Diesel.
 Alternative Diesel Fuel Not Derived From Petroleum Are
Biodiesel And Biomoes To Liquid (BTL) Or Gas To
Liquid(GTL) Diesel.,

 A Locomotive Is A Railway Vehicle That Provides The
Motive Power For A Train.
 The Word Originates From The Latin Loco- “From A
Place” + Modieval Latin Movines “Causing Motion”.
And Is Shortened Form Of The Term Locomotive
Engine.
 The First Successful Locomotives Were Built By
Cornish Inventor Richard Trevithick.
 Locomotive In India- Consist Of Electric And Diesel
Locomotives. Steam Locomotives Are No Longer Used
Expect In Heritage Area.

The Series Digit Identifies The Horse Power Range Of The Locomotive Ex;
For The Series Latter ‘3’ Means That The Locomotive Has Power Over
3000HP But Less Then 4000Hp.
#The Fifth Letter (Subtype)
An Optional Letter Or Number That Indicates Some Smaller Variations In The
Basic Model. Ex; ‘A’ For 100 Hp
‘B’ For 200 Hp And So On….

11. 1-HTS(Heat Treatment Shop)
In This Shop Hardening,Stress Leaving
,Tempering,Normalising,Carburisng,Quenching,Is Done By
Help Of Conventional & Unconventiona Process. Here
We Are Doing Hardening Of Cam –Shaft, Connecting
Rod, Piston Pin,Different Small Component Of Cylinder
Head.
#This Shop Is Divided In Two Parts Which Are As
Follows:-
1- Induction Section –Use For Induction Hardening
2- Furnace Section –Use For Overall Process
Induction Section :-In Induction Section,Stress Leaving
& Hardening Of Cam Shaft ,Its Bearing & Cam Lobes Is
Done At Different Temperature In Induction Type
Hardeninig We Are Using Copper Coil For Hardening.

12. 2-Furnace Section:-
 In This Section We Are Using Different Type Of
Furnaces For The All The Heat Treatment Process
Will Be Done . For Hardening Carbon Must Be
Present Up To 0.5%. Hardening Is Done In Furnace
At 920 Degree Centigrade Here Thermocouple Are
Attach For Measure Exact Temp Of Hardened
Material.

14. EES
 Engine Eraction Shop (EES) Is Part Of Engine
Division. In EES, Eraction Means Built Engine With
Assembly Different –Different Items Of Engine . In
These Under Shop Deals With Different Items Parts
Assembly And Different Items Of Engine.
 In Under Shop Two Types Engine Eracted;
