To exude the emotional connection behind “Remote”, we
are envisioning a music video embodying the movement
and flow of the lyrics combined with the music.
Illustrating a state of relaxation for the viewer, the video
captures the message of separation of human
connection caused by technology.
5
6. We open on the interior of a well
decorated apartment. With the
instrumental of the intro playing,
Joules is seen walking beside her
significant other to the TV in the
living room area. As they both sit
down on the couch, Joules mate
grabs the remote to turn the TV on. It
comes on to static and he becomes
chained to the television,
representing the grasp that
technology now has on our culture,
described throughout the lyrics.
6
7. Joules starts to sing “A distant
shore 1,000 miles away”, walking
alongside a water shore. Joules’
looking afar, into the distance,
searching for her mate. Remotely,
he’s somewhere that she’s not
able to get to. Joules then sees a
jar in the sand, and she walks
closer to the jar, she bends down
to a tense lightening that starts
inside.
7
8. We cut to a wide shot of Joules
walking away from the plasma ball, to
see a tv alongside the shore from a
distance. Joules starts to walk
towards to tv, and as she gets closer,
she recognizes her mate trapped
inside the tv in what looks like the
outer space galaxy. Now standing in
front of the tv, Joules reaches to touch
the tv screen but once her fingers
touch, the screen reveals to a
disgruntled, roaring tiger.
8
9. Scene cuts to a man playing the ebow
guitar alongside the water shore during the
first chorus. Then the camera redirects to
a mid-shot of Joules standing on a time-
compass, on a dock, looking out at the
water, reminiscing on old times with her
mate. Joules places her hands on her face
to the transition of her sitting in a canoe on
the water, then reveals her significant
sitting on the other end with his back to
hers in the midst of the lyrics “We two exist
within this place and time” “But you are
going your way, And I’m going mine.” The
camera zooms in on one of the paddles in
the water, to show they are paddling in
opposite directions.
9
10. As the outro begins, Joules is seen
looking up at the night sky and sees a
shooting star. The camera cuts to a
mid-shot of the tv with her significant
other seeing the same shooting star
inside the galaxy. He then is freed
from the tv, walking towards Joules,
as she is seen walking towards his
silhouette. Wiping his face from the
sand, the scene transitions to him
sitting on their living room couch (just
like the opening scene), next to
Joules, with one arm around her, and
the remote in the other hand,
watching an old classic movie.
10
12. This music video positions to resonate with those
who has experienced the disconnect in a
relationship from social media and technology.
Bridging the gap between the older generation and
millennials, it provides a way for fans to correlate
with Joules through the lyrics and animations in a
quirky and robust way.

Emil Nava is a British music video director that has been
in the industry for 17 years after starting his career with
Jessie J's music video, "Do It Like a Dude". He has directed
over 100 music videos for artists such as Ed Sheeran, Post
Malone, Calvin Harris, Selena Gomez and Ellie Goulding.
His work for Normani's music video "Waves" has a similar
vibe that we want to incorporate in our video. It's a modern
piece with effects of a galaxy background we'd like to include
along with the same shots of the artist that were used. The
water scenes, color effects and the shots of the woman's curly
blonde hair in Nava's video, "How Deep Is Your Love" by
Calvin Harris also has similar visuals we'd like to use.
Therefore, Emil Nava would be a good fit for directing this
video as he creates music videos with similar vibes and
includes the use of colorful effects.

Internationally known as a music composer,
producer, songwriter & DJ,Jonah Christian
has worked with brands such as Apple and
GoPro and on music videos for Normani and
Amine.
His creative talent would be a good fit for our
video as he worked on the "Waves" video
with director Emil Nava, which has the same
feeling we are trying to create. He also has
his bachelor's degree in Film and Digital
Media/Music Technology and has
experience in storytelling through visuals. So
we believe he would be able to tell the story
of our music video and connect it with the
audience.

Julie Klein or "Joules" as her stage name, is a
singer-song writer who's music is a reflection of
her life. Her music and lyrics resonate with her
audience as she touches on multiple aspects.
The music video for "Remote" will connect with
Joules' fans in the older generation as it will tell
the story of a human connection that is lost due to
the grasp technology now has on our culture.
It's different from other music videos because it
touches on a social change in our society and how
it has affected all of us. Yet, it will have a relaxing
feeling mixed with a modern and psychedelic vibe
to appeal to her target audience's lifestyle and
market graphics.

Jesse McMinn is a member of Joules' band

Bell. He also does photography and video
editing. He will be featured in the video for
"Remote" during the chorus and instrumental
parts as an ideal cast member since he works
