4. Photoshop – this is where we created our
digipak and our magazine advert. This came
in useful as we created our video because it
helped us to stay in tune with the theme we
wanted to portray.
5. We created mood boards as a way to show the conventions of a house
music video and how they show that the artist/artists are usually wearing
bright and elaborate make-up, especially if they are female. The
colourful make-up matches the upbeat tempo of the song and in regards
to our video, we feel that our artist should follow this convention, as the
more unusual and vibrant the make-up, the more gripping and eye
catching the video will be.
6. Whatsapp – a way of communication that we
used was simply by text or whatsapp.
Fortunately for us each member had an I-
phone. This gave us access to iMessage and
also gave us the opportunity to have a free
way of communicating via iPhones. It also
allowed us to create a group message in
which we all could all work as a unit. These
were used to also store any vital information
needed,
7. Blogger – this is where we posted all our
work, allowing us to upload and embed
various pictures and videos we thought would
be useful.
8. Facebook, Instagram, Vine and Twitter – this
is how we showed our updates on the music
video.

instagram

9. Google – we use this for research and
searching for other websites to use
Final Cut and iMovie – we used these to edit
our music video
Youtube – this is how we researched for
conventions of house music videos and we
also used this to upload our own music video.
Vimeo – this is where some of our video work
(prelim) is stored
Wikipedia – this is where we discovered the
history of our genre and of our chosen song
Google chrome and Safari – this is how we
accessed the internet
10. These various pieces of hardware and software greatly
influenced our project. By using these items we were able to
create lots of different effects, for example in Photoshop we
were able to edit the colour of our artist’s clothes and even
change the colour of smoke. These advancements in technology
helped to include more detail and structure into our project for
if not, we would not have been able to create these different
effects.
Without the help of the social networking sites Facebook,
Twitter, Vine and Instagram, we would not have been able to
show images of the progress for our music video, nor would we
have been able to gain extra publicity for our artist as social
networking is what is most viable for publicity by advertising
your music on it.
Without the use of Final Cut and iMovie, we wouldn’t have been
able to edit our music video, therefore no allowing us to be as
creative as how we were able to be. We would also have had to
be extremely selective with our filming which would have been
incredibly time consuming.
11. The Nikon D3200 is a HD camera, if we were to use a normal
quality camera, the overall look of our music video would have
looked awfully bland as the camera contained a responsive
autofocus and super fast shooting speed in HD. We particularly
wanted to use this model as it allowed us to switch the focus
whilst retaining a high quality shot. As a group we all filmed
different shots with help from others. Majority of the shots were
taken upon a tripod in order to sustain a steady shot. However
some steady handheld camera shots were used in awkward high
or low angle shots.
For our digipak and magazine advert we also used the same
camera to take shots. This was used on set to capture different
angles/shots from our main camera to create a variety of
footage. Whilst filming, a certain scene required lighting.
Using Youtube allowed us to upload our music video to a much
bigger audience. It stops us from localising our video and allows
it to be viewable to a worldwide audience, expanding our target
audience. This website also allows people to comment on our
video which gives us more audience feedback and how we would
be able to improve in the future.
