This project involved the production of bell peppers over 17 weeks at a secondary school. Various activities were carried out including land preparation, transplanting seedlings, routine watering and weeding, and multiple harvests. A total of 60 plants yielded over 15kg of peppers that were sold for $14,146, providing a profit. While actual yields and expenses differed slightly from projections, an overall profit was made through this agricultural venture.

Bell peper
1. Introduction
Name of Project: Bell Pepper Production (Bull Head)
Location: 114 NorthGeorgetown Secondary School. Agricultural Plot. Thomas Land.
Duration: 14th September, 2016- 11th January, 2017 (17Weeks)
2. Description of Activities
Land Preparation
1. Land Clearing-Was done to remove unwanted vegetation using manual method (cutlass).
Obstacles and materials such as glass, plastics and wood shavings were found on the plot.
This process discourage competition for soil nutrients ,moisture and root space for proper
growth between bell peppers
2. Tillage (Primary and Secondary) - Beds were harrowed and ploughed to allow aeration to
restore moisture to the top soil. Insects such as beetles, frogs and earthworms were found
in the soil. After this, beds were leveled with the aid of a rake.
3. Construction of Beds and Drains-Drains were dug to remove excess water from the
surface of the soil. Weeds were removed from around the bed
4. Application of Manure-Cow manure was used to give the soil nutrients so that the soil
can become more friable providing nutrients and aid in organic content. This will
increase bacteria and other soil organism which will produce humus.
5. Transplanting of Seedlings- Each bed had five holes of equal depth and spacing.Peppers
were planted 3 cm within the row.
6. Construction of Sheds- Banana branches were used along with fork sticks to protect the
seedlings, due to the transplants.
7. Routine Activities- crops was watered twice per day, aeration whenever it was required
and weed control activity was continued as per normal.
8. Harvesting- Harvesting was done 8 times (15,16,17). This involved cleaning, sorting,
weighing and packing. Peppers were cleaned using a soft cloth to remove dirt and
chemicals from peppers. After this was done, peppers were separated from damaged
ones according to shape and size.
9. Post Harvesting and Marketing- After packaging, Peppers were sold to students in the
school for $14,146.
