3. BRIEF/CLIENT
Discuss the brief. Discuss who the client is, and what the
expectations are.
My client is York College and I am expected to make a 1
minute promotional video highlighting the creative media
section and how it benefits the students and what upcoming
ones and people considering coming would get out if it. The
video should highlight the working environment and how
isolation in colleges is not an issue in this particular campus.

The editing is very rapid and fast unlike the promotional videos but it is
mainly to highlight the many different divisions this college tackles and
how there is something there for everyone. Because of this there are no
interviews, only a narrator going in detail on what this college stands
for. Emphasising its commitment and dedication towards students
using words such as “we are not your traditional college” and “we are
going to challenge the status quo”as well as mentioning that they are
breaking the boundaries by studying kids jobs that haven’t been
invented yet. It is very clear that they are putting them on a high
standard. Because they are using quick edits to different places. They
have used many camera techniques from a drone shot showing the
college to the end to a focus pull to a camera monitor while showing
some students working that are out of focus. The music is very
bombastic in a very uplifting way to give the impression that this is a
very positive place to be and you will benefit so much. The branding
logo comes in at the end just so if you want to go there you know their
image. This is mainly to put the students before their image and not
make it all about them.

Unlike the previous video this one actually utilizes interviews
but not from the tutors but only from the students and
exchange students who study. This is done by having them
mention how beautiful the scenery is before cutting to drone
and wide shots of the campus scenery backing their point
up. They also show shots of Melbourne (which is where the
college is) just show that Melbourne as a beautiful tourist
attraction as well as a great place to study and live as they
cut to shots of the many places to eat, shop and study.
Showing that there are many things they can do other than
study. They even the amount of students who come from
over the world which is a selling point as it shows that this
isn’t just a local college
7. PROPOSAL
Discuss what you intend to create.
I intend to create a one minute corporate video promoting the
creative media section in York College and talking about what
upcoming students can benefit from the course. One of my
ideas I plan doing is filming on a green screen and having
fun with the graphics you could play on it as well as using
camera techniques. By doing this I will be giving a example
of the many skills these students will learn if they choose to
come here but I am going to show these techniques being
displayed instead of just telling them what they will learn. An
example of this is that the video will cut to me running away
as the camera is following me on a dolly before it cuts back
to the actor on the green screen explaining further on what
they will be learning. I am also going to include photo’s to
explain the photography side of things and maybe include
photo sound effects when I mention photography.
8. RESOURCES
Discuss the equipment required.
I am going to require the green screen room as well as a lot of
the many camera equipment including the shoulder rig, dolly,
tripod and a DSLR. I am going to use them in a small amount of
time because I am only going to utilize them In one shot to give
a example on what the students will be working on. The Green
screen will be the main thing I will be using most to as a way
highlight how much fun students who are creative will have
because there is a green screen in our college that is available
for them at anytime. If I am going to use the green screen room I
will require after effects in order to blend the footage and the
graphics together. Lastly I may also require mics in order for the
audio to be heard from when I am speaking. Some videos don’t
have mics and because of that the audio from the person being
interviewed can be hard to hear. I don’t want that for my video.
9. ROLES
Discuss crew roles and responsibilities.
The crew roles will mainly consist of some of us who are working both front and
behind
the camera too. Their responsibility is to make the video as competent as possible and
not
have any mistakes with either the lenses being out of focus or even making sure the
Green-Screen blends well with the actor being filmed and make sure the camera
techniques such as the panning shots, tracking shots are slick and smooth so that it
doesn't distract viewers if it isn’t done well. But another important aspect is to make
sure that everything is done safely so that no one is hurt when a accident happens.
Another responsibility is to make sure everyone gets along very well and we are all
clear on what we want to shoot and how we are going to do it. Having differences in
ideas when filming something can be time consuming and is stressful for everyone
working so its important that everyone working agrees with what they want to shoot
before stating and they are certain on what they are going to film.

17. CONSTRAINTS
Did any constraints alter your project? It could be legal,
regulatory or financial.
I did not receive any constraints in production in both legal
and regulatory aspects and everything ran smoothly.
Everything was in order to make a video and edit together in
post. We had proper camera equipment and even a green
screen to use if I wanted to. The only issues I can think of the
top of my head was the fact that we did not have a
microphone to block out the background noise and to make
the person’s voice in the video less echoey. We also had to
cope with the noise of members of the crew and other people
who where in the room at the time.
18. MANAGEMENT
Evaluate on your time management, you role within the team
and how you communicated and delegated tasks.
We had managed our time perfectly simply because we had planned out a schedule and
we would utilize the time given to us and when we would rap up shooting as well what we
Would start shooting and what would be the last thing we shoot. My role was a crew mem
Who would operate and set up the camera as well as the interviewer behind the camera w
would ask the person in the video the questions. So I had played a big role in the making
the video.
19. FEEDBACK
Discuss any feedback from peers or your tutor. Discuss how
this impacted your final piece of work.
One of the main criticisms of my final product was the lack of evidence or footage of the
College to back up what the person in the video was saying and in that regard I feel I have
Messed up and could have put in more effort to shoot more footage of the college instead
of limiting It to one location and a set of text asking the questions. It gave the video less
flare in editing in production value and just explaining how good the college is made it a bit
more boring than the other videos that other groups made. So overall I feel I could have
done
much better. I could have utilized the green screen or any room in the college and have it
cut
To footage of people working while still using audio of the person talking about the great
aspects of the college. So this is the most important piece of criticism I took away at the
end of this
