How To Educate Students With
Autism Spectrum Disorders
What Autistic Children Schools Should Do?
Such schools should serve as therapeutic schools for the development
of children with autism spectrum disorders.
They must lay stress on laying the foundation of learning through
building relationships.
They must prepare specific lesson plans for addressing individual
motor and sensory processing systems.
The Academic Program
The academic programs must be aligned to augment a child’s capacity
to smoothly absorb from the environment.
They must focus on enriching the emotional experiences of students.
They must include individualized lessons to address the interest levels
of each student.
Literature
The comprehension skills of the students must be given high priority.
The students must be encouraged to read passages for refining their
symbolic thinking.
Students must be exposed to emotionally rich texts for developing an
extensive vocabulary.
Augmenting Math and Science Skills
A comparative form of learning math should be encouraged.
The hands-on activities should be promoted to develop computation
skills among students.
Activities involve mixing of textures or paints to create new
substances should be encouraged.
Going for A Music Therapy
Music therapy should be used to make way for children for bringing
out expressions and emotions.
The musical experiences provide students with an opportunity for
meaningful musical dialogues.
Inspiration music brings out an individual’s innate creativity.
Promoting Social Work Services
The families of children should be given the services of a social worker.
The social workers act as bridge between home and school for the
parents.
They provide a professional counselling for families and individuals.
Organizing Parent Support Groups and
Workshops
The parent support groups must be formed for letting them discuss
their fundamental concerns for their children.
The schools must provide a cohesive and interactive space for
parents.
They must educate parents on the relevant topics such as Medicaid
Waiver Services, and special needs Financial Planning.
