Professional Profile
A highly organised undergraduate student studying undergraduate BSc chemistry having underwent minor
previous experiences in the medical field with an aptitude towards the mathematical and analytical aspects within
chemistry. Also have experience within the education sector, working as a Teaching Assistant in a high school,
predominantly focusing core subjects of science and maths but did help with all subjects across all years within the
high school.
Education and Qualifications
Sheffield Hallam University- 2019-2022, BSc Chemistry
Projects:
3rd
Year: Kitchen experiment production to use to explain the scientific principle behind crystallisation and it’s use
within analytical chemistry
2nd
Year: Custom Synthesis of a Target Molecule and Analogues- carried out research on retrosynthetic schemes
as well as possible overarching synthetic schemes from a variety of resources and methods.
1st
Year: Handling a controlled substance in a lab environment- determination of the composition of unknown
substance through a variety of analytical techniques.
Sheringham High School and Sixth Form
A Levels: Chemistry (B), Biology (B), Physics (C)
GCSEs: 10 GCSEs A*-C
Relevant Experiences
Medical Aspirations- 16-18 February 2016
Underwent a couple days at UEA to understand the structure of a medicine course at a university.
Medical Placement- 17-21 October 2016
A week’s work placement in and around Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) going through
and understanding the procedures that occur at a hospital in each of the many sectors that are present.
Employment
September 2018-December 2018: Teaching Assistant at Sheringham High School- working hand in hand with
students that require extra help in their subjects
July 2015-September 2019: Part-time waiter at The Bank Restaurant
Skills
LABS: Experienced with a multitude of analytical techniques within the labs as well as basic experimental
procedure techniques such as pipetting and titration as well as utilising lab equipment throughout any experiments.
Also, able to interpret data produced from the analytical techniques to a high standard.
LABS HEALTH AND SAFETY: Proficient in health and safety requirements, in both the production of a risk
assessment and carrying out the task under those requirements utilising the correct PPE required in experiments.
COMPUTER AND IT: Have knowledge on use of common software like Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint etc.
Also, can use more chemistry related software such as Chemdraw.
COMMUNICATION: Developed over time through my time in work (both as a TA and as a waiter) as well as
through my links in sports teams. Communication played a crucial role in the execution of tasks expected of you in
all those positions.
TEAMWORK: Experienced through a variety of situations, such as in my work and through sports. Also developed
through practical work in 1st
year chemistry, both in regular lab work and in kit assignment, in the production of a
bouncy balls kit.
ADAPTABILITY: Capable of adapting and changing methods to better procure results and elevate results where
possible. Developed through my work in the restaurant where changes had to be made for the business to stay
functioning throughout lockdown phases and during recuperation from when the lockdowns ended.
TIME MANAGEMENT: Developed through university and through work by getting an understanding on when
situations need to be completed to get the smoothest transitions into the next task at hand.
