3. Supporting Information:
Ambitous and experienced
After successfully completed my NQT at the flagship school of the Ark academy group, which is judged by
OFSTED to be outstanding. My current school has also achieve one of the top 100 schools in England for
pupil progress.
My commitment to making a positive contribution to teaching young people is absolute which has been
shown throughout my NQTyear at Ark. Pursuing my ambition to become an even better teacher was a life
changing commitment after 19 successful years in South East Asia. I believe my experience in product
design and latterly in the restaurant and catering industry has given (and will continue to give) the young
people with whom I work a unique insight into other cultures and work opportunities.
Due to my commercial experience in product design and my experience in food preparation and nutrition
and EAL teaching, I am looking to further develop my career opportunities. I believe I am an excellent
teacher of Food and DT and have the ability to inspire young people to achieve their full potential.
Sensible and accumpliced
My goal is to lead the education and personal development of young people in my care. I am sensible,
thoughtful, ambitions, respectful and supportive.
Throughout my teaching career to date, peers reported that I taught well-structured lessons within KS3
(Food, Textiles, and Resistant Materials and Product Design), KS4 (Food Technology and Food Preparation
and nutrition) and KS5 (Product Design 3D Y12).
I have high expectations when motivating and challenging pupils and look to inspire them to do well and
make progress within lessons, the cirrulum and their future careers.
Respectful and supportive
I have worked well in teams throughout my commercial career and believe that I carried this into the start of
my teaching career in all school I have worked. I displayed an ethos of collegiate empathy and respect
during my career which helped me quickly become a team member.
I believe core numeracy, but particularly literacy to be both a barrier and an opportunity to succeed in all
subjects. I have worked hard to support improved literacy levels within the context of Design and
Technology. I have taught classes that consisted of a large range of abilities, including learning and
behavioural difficulties, pupil premium and EAL. In teaching such a range of capabilities my confidence and
classroom management skills have developed extremely well.
Thoughout my teaching career I have fully involved myself in all aspects of school life; this has included
attending all relevant school training, twilight sessions and departmental meetings. I have a solid
understanding of being a form tutor both Y9 and Y10. In addition I have gained Food Safety certificate
Level 2. I have always followed departmental and school policies. I am extremely punctual to the extent I
am often the first to arrive and the last the leave and ensure I always demonstrate a positive attitude and
behaviour. To both pupils and colleagues.
Thoughtful
I concider myself as thoughtful, hardworking, enthusiastic and offer a unique set of commercial and
international experiences to inform and inspire young people. I care for each individual I teach and gain the
greatest satisfaction by helping young people achieve their potential and learn something new. I love seeing
the students’ appreciation for their own work and achievements. I believe this is something that will then
stay with them throughout their lives.
I feel I could contribute greatly to the continual improvement of your school.
