2. • I started to think about what image I would use for my front
cover as I has lots to change from. I took pictures of her
during the set of filming so I thought leaving the background
would suggest she’s in the middle of filming and the
magazine a promote behind-the-scene action. At first I
chose an image which had her body in it because when I put
the sub-heading it would not get in her face and would be
placed nicely with the background. However, I changed my
idea of that and chose a extreme close up because the
magazine will promote her and her new upcoming film. The
subheading would not get in her face because as I was
looking at film magazine in my research I noticed that film
magazine don’t have too much sub-headings and rely a lot
of the main image.
• Firstly I chose the masthead to be called
‘SHOWING’, linking it will films and cinematic. After
placing it at the top, I thought that the masthead was
too long and it needed to be bold and short. I also
liked the idea of a 3 dimension masthead just like my
AS Media: music magazine front cover. This is also
when I decided to change my main image.
• I decided to choose the name ‘VIEW’ also linked with
cinematic and decided to keep a white bold font. This
masthead followed conventions because
conventionally film magazines masthead are clear and
simple. Shortening the title complimented well with
the image.
3. • After sorting out my masthead
and main image, I then started
adding it text. In my research I
found that the name of the film
I’m promoting is highly
emphasised. Because of the
extreme close up of my
actress, placing ‘The Watcher’
was not a good idea because it
took too much of her face
away. I decided to moved it at
the bottom which I thought
was much better however I
didn’t the like font or colour
4. • As you can see I had trouble
choosing a suitable font for my
subheading. I didn’t want to
choose a white font because my
masthead was white too, but
conventionally film magazines
tends to use a lot of the white ad
white was the only colour that
went suitable with my magazine.
• I think the last font at the bottom
advertises the genre of my film
but also went well with
everything else on the magazine.
• The ‘world exclusive’ had to be
much bigger to emphasise the
catch the reader’s eye.
5. • I wanted to keep my
magazine simple and didn’t
want to over do it because it
would have intervene with
her face.
• Look back to my research I
saw that they have 3
subheadings so I followed
the convention of having 3
subheadings.
• I liked how the red and
white contrast with each
other, in the results of this, it
has made both text bold.
6. • This is my final product of
my front cover, as you can
see I’ve added a plug to
make it look professional
and I’ve added another
subheading on the right
hand side.
• After doing slight
alteration, I am happy with
my magazine
