and nutrition insecurity in Liptako Gourma Authority zone
(Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger); lLake Chad and(North-west and
Center-Nord of Nigeria,),
Drought, flood conditions have affected crops and pastoral
season in the Sahel countries and some Golf of Guinea

16. Recommendations
The Governments and partners
1. Develop and implement emergency response planes (ERP) on time to provide immediate
food and nutritional assistance to populations experiencing food and nutritional insecurity
(phases 3 to 5) in order to save human lives and prevent the risk of malnutrition among
children from poorer households in the countries concerned, particularly those affected
by civil insecurity and/or the economic crisis (Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger, Mali,
etc.);
2. Facilitate access for humanitarians in the inaccessible and limited access areas in order
to facilitate the emergency interventions
3. Continue and strengthen actions to prevent and manage malnutrition in the areas
through updated response plans;
4. Support the activities that generate income or restore household livelihoods, particularly
in Urban area, and for the IDPs (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Nigeria)
5. Maintain the permanent information monitoring system .
17. Recommendations
To CILSS, ECOWAS, UEMOA, Technical and funded partners
1. Financially support to strengthen the implementation of ERP
2. Strengthen the capacities of national early warning systems in the
collection, processing and dissemination of information on food and
nutritional security.
3. Support/Assist countries to set up inclusive the remote monitoring
system to inform the decision maker on the risk of food and nutrition
deterioration on time
4. Support EWS in the establishment and operation of a specific data
collection mechanism in inaccessible or limited access areas.
