Mystery Reader:
The Kick-Off Activity
Simultaneous Reading
Mrs. Elizabeth B. Febrero, as she orients the students of Laoac National High School of
the National Reading Month Celebration 2018. She also introduces the Mystery Reader
whom the students should listen to in order to guess who he is. This activity aims to
promote the importance of reading to have a meaningful learning experience.
The students of Laoac National High School participates in the Simultaneous Reading
on November 27, 2018, 9 o’clock in the morning. This activity is led by the English and
Filipino teachers of Laoac National High School.

Kwentuhan Tayo!

morning. This activity is led by the English
and Filipino teachers of Laoac National High
School.
The English and Filipino teacher led by Mrs. Elizabeth B. Febrero, HT-III,English
Department and Mrs. Grace C. Gayo, HT-III, Filipino Department, conducted the
orientation to all interested participants of the different activities and contest for the
National Reading Month Celebration 2018.
The Grade 7, 8 & 9 students of Laoac National High School, as they creatively deliver
their literary piece for the Kwentuhan Tayo, one of the activities for the celebration.
4. Social Hall of
Big Book Making
On November 27, 2018 (Tuesday), all of the participants of the Big Book Making was
grouped into six (6). Three groups for FILIPINO and three groups for ENGLISH. The
groups started making their Big Book on November 28, 2018, and they were given
time to finish it until December 5, 2018. The groups presented their Big Book with
storytelling on December 5, 2018, at 11:00-12:00 a.m. at the Laoac National High
School. The judges were Mrs. Analiza B. David, Ms. Remegia V. Javier and, Ms.
Jovylyn C. Cadorna.
The participants as they work collaboratively in making their Big Book.
One representative in each group was assigned to read the story in their Big Book.
(Storytelling Time). Their performance was rated by the judges based on the criteria
given.
5. Quiz Bee
Essay Writing
Dr. Remegia V. Javier, Mrs. Analiza David and Mrs. Gemma Torio, as they orient and facilitate the
students who joined the Essay Writing with the theme, “Reading: A Key to a Brighter Future”
The students actively participate in the National Reading Month Quiz Bee. This is
spearheaded by the Filipino and English teachers.

Spoken Word Poetry
ZumBOOK
Spoken word Poetry is an activity that aims to develop the students’ communication
skills. On the 3rd
of December, 2018, Mrs. Gemma Torio, Mrs. Analiza David and Miss
Emma Concepcion Andrion conducted the activity to all Grade 9 and 10 students.
The Laoac National High School conducted a ZUMBOOK activity that aims to
encourage to share their old books or any reading materials in exchange to the zumba
dance experience.
7. Help a Reader, Be a Volunteer
This activity was joined by almost 200 teachers and learners of Laoac National High
School. This also highlighted the zumba dance lead by the Grade 10 students.
Help a Student Read. Be a Volunteer.-The reading activity was held in the English
Department on December 4, 2018 at 4:00-5:00 p.m. during the National Reading
Month Celebration. Our task is to conduct a reading session and ask for volunteers to
help the students read, especially the slow readers. We decided to get students from
the reading class in 7-Da Vinci.
The grade 10 Stargazer students volunteered to help and guide the grade 7 learners to read.
8. Family Reading
Let’s Paint it Out!
Family Reading is an activity that aims to promote the important roles of the parents in
developing the reading ability of their children. Three families were invited to read a story for the
students of the Laoac National High School. After which, the parents spearheaded the discussion
about the morale of the story read.
Let’s Pain it Out is an activity that showcased the skills and talents of the students in expressing
their thoughts and feelings provoked by reading through creative on-the-spot painting challenge.

Culminating Activity featuring The
Parade of Characters
The National Reading Month Celebration 2018 culminated on the 5th
day of December, 2018 at
Laoac National High School Social Hall. This was attended by the teachers, parents and students.
The different department heads, as they

Edwin Sison, one of the judges for the
Mr.&Ms. Parade of Characters.
