2. Main organs :
• Nose
• Nasal passage
• Trachea
• Bronchi
• Lungs
• Diaphragm
3. Trachea
• Also called wind pipe through which air passes.
• It doesn't collapse because it is supported by the rings of soft
bones called cartilage.
• Upper end of trachea called larynx.
• Lungs lie in chest cavity.
• Trachea contain two bronchi at lower and are connected to two
lungs.
• Bronchus contain bronchioles which contains tiny sace at ends
called alveoli.
• In alveoli gaseous exchange takes place
4. Mechanism of breathing
• When we breathe in-
• Diaphragm and muscles attached to the the ribs get
contract due to which chest cavity expand.
• Expansion increases volume inside chest cavity.
• Due to increase in volume air pressure decreases inside
the chest cavity and air from outside reaches bronchi.
• During breathing in alveoli of the lungs gas filled with
air containing oxygen.
5. When we breathe out
• Diaphragm and muscles get relax.
• Contraction pushes the carbon dioxide out from
lungs into trachea then nostrils and thrn outside of
body.
