3. • In this project we focus on those drugs that are highly
abused by peoples, because they are pleasurable.
• Continuous use of a drug leads to dependence.
• The phenomenon of drug addiction is becoming
increasingly serious due to the growing number of
addicts among youth.

4. • Restoring a person to good health or a useful life
through support, therapy and education.
• Drug Rehabilitation Counselling takes rehabilitation
a step further because through counselling, the addict
is equipped to see the world through a new set of
lenses

2. Using substance which are illegal
3. Excessive use of therapeutic drugs.
 WHO has coined the term “drug dependence” to replace the
terms “drug addiction and drug habit”.
“Drug dependence is a state, psychic and sometimes also
physical, resulting from the interaction between a living
organism and a drug, characterized by behavioral and other
responses that always include a compulsion to take the drug on
a continuous or periodic basis in order to experience its psychic
effects.”

stomach
Distributed throughout the body & rate of distribution
depends on vascularization
90% is oxidized in liver, the remainder being eliminated
through the lungs & in small amounts in the urine
90-98 percent of an ingested dose of ethanol is metabolized by
the liver. Most of the remaining 2-10 percent is excreted
unchanged in the urine & exhaled air

• It exaggerates changes caused by at least two brain chemicals,
noradrenalin and dopamine, increasing alertness and causing

Disturbing sociological aspects; therefore it is
necessary to take care about the use of such types
of drugs.
• Rehabilitation with detoxication is the best way to
treat an individual suffering from drug addiction.
