3. A b o u t m u k t a n g a n
Muktangan was set up in 2003, a partnership between Paragon Charitable Trust &
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). We work in 3 broad areas ….
Trainees from under-served communities (primarily women), ~ 80 per year
3 year intensive training - 1 year full-time (pre-service) and 2 year (in-service)
Specialised teacher educators (Faculty) work on Training & Capacity building
Methodology is active learning consisting of role-plays, discussions and case studies
TEACHER EDUCATION
7 Municipal schools in Mumbai G south ward (Jr Kg to Xth)
Active constructivist pedagogy imparted currently to 3500 children from under-served communities
Integrated, Holistic and Inclusive education model
SCHOOL PROGRAM
Working with Government organisations for Teacher Education
Working as knowledge partner with NGO’s for quality education in rural areas
Conducting pedagogy workshops for ecosystem/ beneficiaries outside Muktangan

Muktangan is the sole initiative of the Paragon Charitable Trust a registered charity under the
Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 with registration no E-3305 and is eligible to receive
donations under income tax deduction at 50% under section 80G and at 100% under section
35AC. The Trust is also registered to accept foreign donations under FCRA 2010.
