1. Formation and promotion of FPOs in
Assam
–A Study with special reference to Revenue Enhancement
and Market Linkage of FPOs in Assam

2. Objectives
• To analyze and develop agri-business strategies and models for enhancing business
process of selected farmer interest groups and farmer producer organizations in
Assam.
• To identify opportunities for linkages amongst various participants in the value
chain of farmer collectives for revenue enhancement.
• To promote agri-preneurial drive amongst unemployed rural population and
induce organizational agility to adopt transformative business model for FPO.
• To develop institutional mechanism and offer competence based capacity
development programmes to FPOs’ office bearers and employees for enhancing
their professional business orientation.

3. Expected Output
• Evaluation and analysis of current business strategies and models of selected
FPOs in the state of Assam
• Identification of agri-business opportunities in the value chain of FPO business
operations
• Development of agri-business models for enhancing financial performance
and return on investment
• Institutional mechanism - “Centre for FPO and Agri-preneurship” to empower
farmer groups and farmer producer organizations/companies.
• Offering skill development programs with agri-business orientations for
improving governance, managerial and technical skills.

4. • Organizing rural agri-preneurship drives to promote the spirit of agri-startups.
• Developing online platform for facilitating market linkages of FPOs in Karnataka to
encourage “Farm to Plate” concept (F 2 P).
• Facilitating FPOs to identify potential agricultural export opportunities in emerging
scenario.
• Imparting technical skills on good agricultural practices for quality enhancement.
• Organizing training programmes on pre and post-harvesting skills for realizing
remunerative prices
• Identifying and facilitating technical resource persons, infrastructure and guidance
for marketing linkage and revenue enhancement of selected FPOs
