Organizational communication is defined as the process of sharing information between individuals in an organization to achieve goals. It can be formal or informal, downward or upward, and use written, oral, or gestural forms of communication. Formal communication follows organizational structures, while informal communication is free of formalities. Effective organizational communication is key to coordinating activities and ensuring success.

5. FORMAL COMMUNICATION refers to the communication
that takes place within the prescribed organizational work
arrangements.
Eg:- when the general manger issues instructions to the head
of the department
INFORMAL COMMUNICATION is free from all sorts of
formalities because it is used on informal relationships
between the parties, such as friendship, membership in the
same club or association.

through written words e.g. letters, circulars, reports, notices
etc
 ORAL COMMUNICATION: Conveying of message through
spoken words e.g. interviews, telephone conversation, face to
face talks.
NON VERBAL/GESTURAL COMMUNICATION:
Transmission of message through actions and gestures e.g.
facial expression, visual communication.

8. INTERNAL COMMUNICATION refers to the
communication which takes place within the organization.
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION covers interaction with
those outside the organization.
