Introduction:
 An application letter is a formally written one page
letter that accompanies a resume and other
requested documents in application for a job or
academic programme.
 An application letter is also often synonymous with
cover letter to describing what material are
included in the cover letter.
Three main parts of a letter
General points to be remember
1. Keep it brief. You don’t need to give a lot of detail. What you are
aiming for is a clear and concise explanation of your suitability for the
job.
2. Begin your letter or email ‘Dear Mr./Mrs./Ms. xx’ if you know the
person’s name, or ‘Dear Sir or Madam’ if you don’t know their name.
3. Avoid inappropriate language such as slang or technical jargon.
4. Use brief, informative sentences and short paragraphs.
5. Check your spelling, grammar, and punctuation carefully. Some
employers routinely discard job applications that contain such mistakes.
How to write an impressive job
application letter ?
 The look of your letter is important. Make sure it looks professional.
Do not use any fancy fonts in the letter.
 Never use a some pun, metaphor or simile in your application. It does
not leave a great impression on the employer.
 This will show that you have done your home work and are quite
serious about getting the job. Research well about the organization
for which you are applying. Your application should reflect that you
have researched well about the organization, its principles and its
work culture.
 Think twice before you write. Make sure you frame your words
correctly and come across as a confident, honest and positive person.
