2. 180-degree rule
The 180-degree rule is a filmmaking
guideline for interaction between two to three
characters on screen. The 180 rule sets an
imaginary axis, or eye line, between two
characters or between a character and an
object. By keeping the camera on one side of
this imaginary axis, the characters maintain
the same left/right relationship to each other,
keeping the scene easy to follow.
When the camera jumps over the invisible
axis, this is known as crossing the
line or breaking the line, and it can produce
a disorienting and distracting effect on a
viewer.

4. Shot/Reverse Shot
Shot reverse shot refers to when a filmmaker places a camera setup on a
subject, and then uses a subsequent setup to show the reverse view of the
previous setup.
5. Matching on action
Cutting on action or matching on action refers
to film editing techniques where the editor cuts from
one shot to another view that matches the first
shot's action.
There are free types of matched cuts you can use:
1) Graphic-where shapes and images
are matched during the transition.
2) Movemet-where movement is matched.
3) Audio-where sounds are matched.
6. Preliminary Task 2 Story Line
“Broken Computer”
The action takes place in the IT-service. A customer enters the building, walks
upstairs and enters a room, where he meets the IT-service employee. They have
a short conversation about customer’s computer problem. In the end customer
shows an employee his computer and an employee tells him to come in two days
and then his computer will be ready. Customer leaves.
Pros: Can be filmed in school, acess to equpment, simple story
Cons: Really similar to the photo story
7. Preliminary Task 2 Story Line
“Reunited”
The story takes place in a neighbourhood. A person is walking their dog. Before
the person enters a shop, they tie their dog to a pole outside. When they come
out of the store, they notice that their dog is missing. They begin freaking out
and then ask a stranger on the street if they had seen a dog wandering around.
The stranger says yes and appoints them to the dog. The owner and their dog are
reunited.
Pros: Creative freedom when filming outside, changeable time of shooting,
not a typical task storyline
Cons: Demanding, needed equipment, outside of school
8. Preliminary Task 2 Story Line
After outlining the positives and negatives of each storyline, we decided to
use the “Reunited” story. Because we would have more freedom when
creating outside and it is not a typical preliminary task. So we started to
write the script.
