INTRODUCTION
• To introduce the lesson, prior knowledge
will be tapped through questioning to illicit
what facts are known about the skin and its
parts.
• This questioning allows students to begin
recording known information of the parts of
the skin and their functions. The recording
of information will be done on a
KWL graphic organizer will be distributed
on the lesson as it progresses.

• A diagram of the various parts of the skin
will be viewed. Each part of the skin will
be identified by name and its features will
be further discussed through questioning.
• To make the lesson interactive, and to
assist the students to identify the
correlation with the information given thus
far in the lesson. A dance video will be
introduced in the lesson, participation in
the dance will be required to aid in the
continuation of the lesson.

• Through guided discussion the findings of
the experiments will be recorded on a
worksheet. These findings should include
that the various parts of the skin and
their different functions - epidermis,
dermis, and fatty layer.
• Completion of the KWL graphic organizer is
necessary to illustrate that
additional information of the parts and the
function of each part of the skin was
garnered throughout the lesson.

• A worksheet will be provided for students
to state the functions of the skin, write at
least two facts discussed in the lesson and
accurately label a diagram of the various
parts of the skin.
• Another worksheet will be provided as an
assessment that will require students
to accurately match four functions of a
specific part of the skin that was conducted
in the experiment.
