2. WHAT IS AN ATOMIC BOMB?
An uncontrolled nuclear fission device(fission
of the nuclei of Uranium or Plutonium in a
chain reaction) that release large amount of
energy.

3. WHO CREATED THE ATOMIC BOMB
• Its known as MANHATTAN Project.
• Einstein and other scientists were involved in
purify U-235 for the purpose of an atomic
bomb
• Development of the atomic bomb began in
1939.

4. Working principle
• Atoms bombs work on fission reactions.
• When fission occurs
ENERGY IS PRODUCED
NEUTRONS ARE RELEASED

5. Little boy
• The fissile material was uranium 235 .
• It was a gun type bomb that used an explosive device
to slam one portion of uranium into the other.
• once the two pieces of uranium are brought together,
the initiator introduces a burst of neutrons and the
chain reaction began.

6. Fat man
The fissile material was plutonium 239
the plutonium was divided into subcritical portions and packed into a
spherical case . To cause the chain reaction , gunpowder around the case
was used to force the unit center.
Thus , it was called as an “ implosion type “ bomb

8. Effects to environment
• The initial blast creates a blinding flash,
followed by temperatures in the area of the
explosion reaching upwards of 10 million
degrees Celsius.
• Gamma rays and X rays released from atomic
explosions.
• Due to this radiations genetic changes in
human causes many diseases about decades.
