2. Lab Safety Begins Before You
Go to the Lab!
• You should always wear your apron before going to any
lab.
• For any science lab, wear covered shoes, safety goggles,
long pants, and keep your hair up so it can't fall into your
experiment or a flame.

6. In the Event of a Lab
Accident…Alert people in immediate area of spill.
Wear protective equipment, including safety goggles, gloves, and long-
sleeve laboratory coat.
Avoid breathing vapors from spill.
Confine spill to small area.
Use appropriate kit to neutralize and absorb inorganic acids and bases.
Alert people in area to evacuate.
Activate nearest fire alarm or call Security number.
Close doors to confine fire.
Evacuate to safe area or exit building through stairwell; do not use lift.
Have person knowledgeable of incident and laboratory assist emergency
personnel.
7. At the End of Your Lab Time…
• At the end of your lab time wash all the apparatus and
keep them at their proper place.
• Clean the working area.
• Dispose lab waste properly, don’t throw here and there.
• Wash your hands properly if touched any chemicals with
hand.
• Clean any equipment used if it is necessary.
