2. Nervous System
The nervous system includes
the brain, nerves and spinal
cord. It is the
communication center for
the body, sending and
receiving messages,
regulating body functions
and serving as the control
center for the five senses and
for emotions, speech,
coordination, balance, and
learning.
3. Importance of the System
The nervous system plays a
role in nearly every aspect
of our health and well-
being. It guides everyday
activities such as waking up;
automatic activities such as
breathing; and complex
processes such as thinking,
reading, remembering, and
feeling emotions.
4. Organs forming the System
The nervous system is made
up of the following:
Nerves
Brain
Spinal cord
5. Nerves
A network of nerves is spread
throughout our body. Nerves
are made up of thousands of
nerve cells which carry signals
to and from the spinal cord and
brain. There are 3 types of
nerves in our body .
Sensory Nerves
Motor Nerves
Mixed Nerves
6. Brain
The brain controls and coordinates
the functioning of the entire body.
It lies in the upper half of the scull.
The brain is surrounded by a fluid
which protects it against jerks and
injuries.
There are 3 main parts of the brain.
Cerebrum
Cerebellum
Medulla
7. Spinal Cord
The spinal cord is a long, thin,
tubular structure made up of
nervous tissue, which extends
from the medulla oblongata in the
brainstem to the lumbar region of
the vertebral column. It encloses
the central canal of the spinal
cord, which contains cerebrospinal
fluid
8. How to Take Care of The System
We should exercise regularly.
Eating a balanced diet will also
help in taking care of the
system.
Deep breathing is a simple yet
effective technique to deal
with a weak nervous system.
Walking barefoot on moist
earth, soft grass or a sandy
beach for about 30 minutes
daily can greatly benefit our
nervous system and overall
health.
