1. Task 1:
The topic that I chose to focus on is Manchester United football club as I know a lot about the club
as I am a supporter of the club and have been for a long time. So I think by choosing this topic it’ll be
the best choice for me going forward. My target audience for this project is mainly Manchester
United fans as I am going to be talking about the club and it’s past (history). Although, my magazine
is going to be based on Manchester United I would encourage England fans and other football fans
to take a look as it is football based and Manchester United do have a lot of international players
who have played for their beloved countries e.g. Wayne Rooney is a well-known footballer who
represents his country, England in major tournaments. The purpose of my magazine is to educate
and entertain Manchester United fans about the club and its history, what went on in the past and
the direction the club is going/ planning for the future. Basically, to sum it up I am planning to
provide information for the fans regarding news and stories about the club. The media product
which I am planning to create is an e-magazine full pictures and relevant stories regarding the club.
In this section I am going to be naming some of the current Manchester United websites (including
the official website):
http://www.manutd.com/ - Manchester United official website
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/manchester-united-fc
http://www.manchesterunited.vitalfootball.co.uk/
http://therepublikofmancunia.com/
http://www.redcafe.net/
http://redrants.com/#sthash.FGVtVxny.dpbs
The websites above are some of the websites that covers news and updates regarding Manchester
United football. Some of these websites are created by Man United fans from across the world as
they are interested by the club and can’t get enough, so they write up blogs and stories regarding
the club. So they are existing media products.
My ideas:
2. The ideas that I have in mind of my photoshoot are:
Taking pictures of accessories regarding Manchester United.
Actually going to the football ground to take pictures of Old Trafford.
Taking pictures of someone taking part in a sport - football.
Get someone to model in a Manchester United/ England kit.
Take a picture of a Manchester origin (something famous from Manchester).
Contingency plans:
Take a picture of someone in a football kit.
Take a picture of a football.
Trial layout:
Down below is a template which I will be using on Photoshop to create and edit the pictures that I
have took. The reason why I chose this software is because it is formal and easier to use, as I have
had plenty experience of using this software throughout the year. I will be placing the images in the
middle and moving on from there.
The picture down below consists of tool bars that you can use, I will use to edit my pictures.
4. The location where I will be shooting my footage will be the college field. I decided to shoot
my footage in this area because there is a lot of space and there is an astro-turve where I
take pictures of my friends playing football. I am hoping that the weather is good like this (in
the current image) so that everything goes to plan. I got permission from my teachers to
shoot in this particular area.
5. Plan B/contingency plan: studio assessment
If that plan of taking pictures in the college field doesn’t go plan, I will take pictures of my
models in the college studio. There is many risks for shooting in the studio. For example,
trailing cables and hot lamps are of which I have to look out for when shooting my images
because it is very dangerous if my feet are caught upon them. I got permission from my
teachers to shoot in this particular area.

NOTES:
10. This was photograph was taken of me while taking part in a sports activity, in this case football. The
framing of the picture is easy and simple, long shot. I chose the photograph to be taken like this be-
cause I thought this way the audience can see the background and surface to get a better under-
standing of what is going on in the actual image. The shutter speed that is going on in the image is
high speed as a football match is taking place which is usually high tempo and with constant move-
ment going on. There isn’t any effects in this image apart from a person (me in this case) who is
wearing sportswear, following the game. This photograph above is appropriate for publication but
the category that it would go under, that would look nice for is billboards as the image is wide and
long so it will cover up a lot of space. This image that I have chosen fulfils what the brief is asking for
as it is modern and unique. The framing is appropriate for the media product as it is placed nicely
and you can tell what’s going on in the picture very easily with the background being shown as well.
As you can see from the 2 images above that I had to crop out the writing as it was in the way of the
actual image. The person in the image (which is me) is wearing sports brands which represents the
topic and theme that I chose to present in my cover for the magazine. Also, you can’t see it clearly
but the person in this image is wearing Manchester United shorts which again associates with my
chosen topic for my front cover of the magazine. The picture can be seen from different angles as
the person is right in the middle of the frame so that’s a real positive. The file format of this image is
JPEG as it is an image, so that whenever you try to publish this image it will be HD and in the best
possible quality. I named the file in my photography folder so that it is organised and i don’t have to
spend a long time looking for it (the image under shows the evidence of where I save my work and
the images). This image is not copyright as it is my own which my friend took from my phone while I
was taking part in a football match.
11. This photograph was taken by myself back in 2012 when I visited Old Trafford for the game against
Galatasaray in the champion’s league. The photograph was originally A4 landscape but I rotated it so
that it was A4 portrait. The framing is very unique as you have the 2 black sections (at the top and
the bottom) which makes it even better as you get a better look at the stadium. The shutter speed is
a slow speed as the stadium is quiet and relaxed because it is empty although fans will be gathering
around after. I feel that the stadium is over exposed as the stadium is always protected and there
are always stewards around looking for anything that will disrupt the football match or that will
damaged the stadium. I think that this image will be perfect for a website as it is a big image and you
can see the whole stadium from just this one angle. Audiences will also get a better understanding
12. of what they’re letting themselves in for in they were to go visit Old Trafford. The picture that I took
way back fulfils the brief as it is a perfect and an A4 landscape which fits the purpose. As I said
before this image is appropriate for any type of media product because of the framing and size of
the image as you can literally see the whole stadium from just one angle rather than a multiple of
angles. I was troubled with cropping this image as it is perfect how it already is because all I needed
to do to edit was just rotate it as at first it was A4 landscape whereas now it is A4 portrait (so people
don’t have to keep tilting their heads to see the image). The file format for this image is JPEG as it
comes out in a better quality when viewing on different publishing media products. I named this
picture in a file with my other photography work named ‘Old Trafford’. This image is not copyright as
it is my own as I explained at the very start. Here is the same image that I used to save the other
