Gazetteer
A gazetteer is a list of place names and their
coordinates. The files you can download here
are for use in DIVA for automatic georeferencing
(to assign coordinates to places). The files
should be placed in the gazet directory. (old,
use Biogeomancer). They can also be used to
map localities, however you can download more
recent files from NIMA
U.S. National
Imagery and
Mapping Agency's
(NIMA) database
of foreign geographic
feature names

21. • Dissolve
Takes a vector layer and combines its features into new features. One or
more attributes can be specified to dissolve features belonging to the same
class (having the same value for the specified attributes), alternatively all
features can be dissolved into a single one.

35. • First export joined table shapefile
Edit attribute table
36. • Select the shapefile that you want to edit table
• Allow toggle editing
• Right check on that shapefile and open attribute table
• Directly type some loss values (Okinawa row) and save change
