2. WHAT IS PCK? • Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) consists
of two subparts, Pedagogical knowledge (PK),
and Content knowledge (CK)
• ‘PK’
is the “how” of teaching encompassing
how learners acquire knowledge, & how
they should be assessed (Tokuhama-
Espinosa, 2019)
• ‘CK’
is the “what” of teaching encompassing
content/subject material to be taught

9. PK- Special knowledge teachers have about being able to make
effective teaching and learning environments for learners
CK- Knowledge teachers have of academic disciplines e.g Theories,
facts or any content taught in an academic discipline
PCK-Overlap of content and pedagogy used by pedagogues to
meaningfully teach learners in the classroom
TK- Information or knowledge about technology

used by teachers during teaching and learning
TPK-Knowledge teachers have on how they can use technology in the
classroom to effectively deliver lessons that help aid in the learners’
understanding

• IN ORDER TO FULLY PREPARE TEACHERS AND PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS FOR
FULL TECHNOLOGICAL USE IN THE CLASSROOM, THE NEED ADEQUATE
TRAINING
• THIS BRINGS ADVANTAGES ON LEARNERS’ LESSONS AS ACTIVE LEARNING
BECOMES ENCOURAGED RATHER THAN PASSIVE LEARNING
• THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH TEACHERS’s TPACK, AND FOR TEACHERS TO
FULLY APPLY THEIR TPACK IN CLASSROOMS, THEY NEED ADEQUATE
TRAINING TO AVOID RISKS OF INEFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGICAL USE IN
CLASSROOMS
