2. Fashion
Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially
in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive
and often constant trend in the style in which a person dresses.
5. Sabyasachi Mukherjee
Sabyasachi Mukherjee, born in 1974, is an Indian fashion designer from
Kolkata. Since 1999, he has sold designer merchandise using the label 'Sabyasachi'.
He is one of the Associate Designer Members of Fashion Design Council of
India and board member of the National Museum of Indian Cinema.
He has designed costumes for Bollywood films such as Black, Guzaarish,
Babul, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Raavan, English Vinglish etc.
6. Journey Begins…
Sabyasachi Mukerjee graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology,
Kolkata with three major awards. Four months later, Sabyasachi started his eponymous
label which began with a workforce of three people. Over the years, he has built a
clothing brand which has a strong social perspective.

heritage, says Sabyasachi
Inspiration…
Deserts, gypsies, prostitutes, antique textiles and cultural
traditions of his home town, Kolkata have been a lifelong
inspiration for this designer who believes that clothes should
just be an extension of one's intellect.
He uses unusual fabrics, texturing and detailing, 'fusion' of
styles 'patch-worked' with gorgeous embellishments in a
vibrant eclectic colour palette to make the feeling of going
back to the ancient and medieval ages.
He describes his own collections as 'an International styling
with an Indian soul'.

His collection "Kora" at the Lakme Fashion
Week 2003 won him excellent reviews where he used
unbleached and hand woven fabrics with Kantha and
other hand embroideries. He was declared the best
Designer of India at the MTV Lycra style awards.
In 2004, Kaula Lampur Fashion week.Collection '
The frog princess' at Lakme India fashion week won
him tag of most promosing fashion designer.
The only Indian designer invited to showcase at the
Milan Fashion week 2004.
Entered into films with his costumes designed for
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film, 'Black' which bagged
the national award in 2005.
10. Sabyasachi in Bollywood
Sabyasachi’s designs are popular in bollywood as well. His name was taken
along with Vidya Balan’s in the same breath.
Sabyasachi’s designs are rich,elegant, and full of splendor.
Preferred designer when the Bollywood beauties walk the red carpet at
International film festivals like Cannes, Toronto, etc. Among the Dior,
Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana of the world, Sabyasachi’s outfits wows people
and makes the person who wears it the showstopper.

Vidya Balan is regularly seen on the
circuit donning some gorgeous sarees,
mostly from Sabyasachi. In this, she

raw silk blouse piece to make it look
even better.

Sabyasachi is probably going to use Red color and gold work in their upcoming
collection as he said that it will in trend for his upcoming collection.
Upcoming Future Trend
24. As earlier Sabyasachi has used Khadi in their collection it would be
possible that they will again create collection of Khadi with Gold work.
Sabyasachi used Khadi and block printing using natural vegetable colors
which can be repeated by themselves to promote Khadi.
