2. Manish Arora is an Indian fashion
designer with a traditional vibe in his
designs. He is known for his astute
craftmenship and play in colors. His
trademark is “ Pallette is loud”
Born and brought up in Mumbai, Manish
was studying to graduate in Commerce,
when he decided to change his career
path and applied for the National
Institute of Fashion Technology in New
Delhi. He graduated in 1994 after
winning the Best Student Award.

– In 1997, Manish Arora decided to debut with his very own label “Manish
Arora” by foraying into the retail segment in the Indian market

Fashion Week by representing India.
7. 2001: Manish Launched his
second Label “Fish Fry” and
showed this collection in six
leading cities in India and was
stocked at Lord &Taylor, New

2002: Manish opened his first
flagship store Manish Arora
Fish Fry in New Delhi.
2003: Manish opened his
second flagship store in the
commercial capital of India,
Mumbai.
He had a successful showing at
India Fashion Week in Mumbai
and started stocking at Maria
Luisa Paris starting a successful
export business.
8. 2004: He was awarded the best
Women’s Prêt Designer at the first ever
Indian Fashion Awards’2004 held
in Bombay and MC2 Diffusion Paris
started representing the Label for the
export business.
2005: Manish participated in the Miami
Fashion Week, May’2005 where he was
presented with the designer’s choice
for best collection award.
He had a successful debut at the
London Fashion Week in
September’2005
Manish Arora collaborated with Reebok
to design a collection of shoes under
the brand Fish Fry for Reebok.
He opened his flagship store in
December 2005 at Lodhi Colony Market
in New Delhi. Manish exhibited some of
his work at
the Victoria & Albert Museum, London .
9. 2006: He confirmed himself to be a
fashion designer of great potential
during his second showing in February
2006 receiving rave reviews from
coveted fashion journalists like Hilary
Alexander, Suzy Menkes, Lisa
Armstrong, in all the leading
publications. He is stocked at 75 well
known stores worldwide.
A coveted fashion jury in a leading
Indian publication OUTLOOK
adjudged him to be the Best Indian
Fashion Designer and featured him
on the cover of its March 2006 issue.
He opened his first Manish Arora
franchise store in Villa
Moda, Kuwait and another Manish
Arora Fish Fry store at Crescent at
The Qutub, New Delhi.
10. 2007: First Fish Fry for Reebok concept
store opens at the Garden of Five
Senses, New Delhi.
Manish teams up with make up & cosmetics
giant MAC for designing a signature
collection.
He collaborates with SWATCH for a limited
edition of watches.
Manish was invited to show his collection at
the very prestigious “Fashion in Motion”
held
at Victoria and Albert Museum, London in
September-2007.

Spanish fashion brand, Paco Robanne.

13. Although always taking inspiration from the culture of India, till 2013, Manish had never actually incorporated
Indian silhouettes into his line. That year, he used Indian patterns at the Paris Fashion Week for Srping/Summer
2013, taking inspiration mainly from the jewellery of Rajasthan, with prints of Rajasthani animals on Kurtas.
14. Style
– Manish Arora is regarded by many as "the John
Galliano of India". He is known for a rich palette of
psychedelic colours and kitsch motifs in garments that
combine traditional Indian crafts like embroidery,
appliqué and beading with Western silhouettes.
– He experiments with a variety of textures and Indian
fabrics and merges them with Western sensibilities to
produce fashion lines that show an enigmatic fusion of
tradition and modernity.
15. Innovations
– Manish Arora always comes out with new futuristic designs
for his various collections
– At the latest Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW)
autumn/ winter 2013, Manish Arora ended the event with
his enigmatic collection that was inspired by the Burning
Man festival of the US.
– Sonam Kapoor was the showstopper at the event as she
serenaded the ramp in style donning a black and neon saree.
– From leather turbans to a varied palette of colors including
neon-colored geometrical motifs, there were a lot of
elements that defined the coming trends of the season.
26. – Koovs.com collaborates with designer
Manish Arora to launch his first menswear
line 'Indian by Manish Arora X KOOVS'.
– The designer has created an exclusive
menswear collection of bold and edgy
pieces for the confident man. Four unique
prints each with their own inspiration have
been created for this collaboration and are
seen across apparel, accessories and
footwear. The colour pallet ranges from a
graphic monochrome to bold technicolor.
