AR, MR) LV stretch → ↑ SV via Frank- Straling Initially maintains CO Chronic volume overload → eccentric hypertrophy ↑ SV maintained at expenses of ↑ wall stress Overwhelming wall stress → LV enlargement & contractile dysfunction Preserves CO Decompensated heart failure Symptomatic
