bought over the last year.
• Items can include computers, phones, clothes,
bags, etc.
• In pairs, discuss these questions
1. Which products would you buy only if it
was a well-known brand?
2. Would you buy any of the products on
the list if it did not have a recognized
brand name?
3. As you
watch the

answer

questions:

What does a brand communicate?
What did branding communicate in the past?
What things can be branded?
When is the use of a brand remarkable, according to
Meg Whitman?
How has the use of brands changed through time?
5. Activity
Work in groups of three or four
Each group gets a picture of a product.
Write an advertisement for the product.
Use vocabulary from the preview exercises
and any other words that you know.
Each group then nominates a spokesperson
and tries to “sell” the product to the class.
