Music videos require numerous steps to create including finding investors, recording the song, scouting locations, hiring a director and cast, filming, editing, and promoting. They can take months to produce due to the large amount of footage. Today, the main places to find music videos are on social media sites like YouTube and VEVO as well as television channels dedicated to music. The major record labels—Universal, Sony, Warner Brothers, and EMI—distribute most successful music videos and work with directors, producers, and other parties to create them. Ultimately, the purpose of music videos is to promote and market both the song and artist.
2. How are music videos made?
Music videos aren't created in a day, they have to go through numerous steps until they are ready to
publish. Below i will explain a basic outline of what occurs during the creation of a music video:
1. Record label of artist begins to find investors - This allows the music to have high funds, more funds
means more facilities which essentially means better quality and a better music video
2. Song if not already, needs to be recorded - It is more effective if the song is already out seeing as it
makes fans even more excited to see a video
3. Locations need to be found, permission needs to be given especially when filming in outdoor areas
4. Directors, producers, writers & cast are all hired and filming begins once the narrative is set
5. After filming, editing commences, this can take months due to the fact that there is so much
footage
6. Promotion begins to take place in order to excite fans
7. Distribution companies begin to publish music video
This was a very basic outline of how music videos are made, in reality the steps to making a music
video are much more complex and longer.

Music videos are seen everywhere, we can find them at the click of a button, seeing as todays
society is so social network dominated, the main source which music videos are found are on
social networking sites especially user based video sharing websites such as YouTube - this is I
would say is the main source especially since YouTube created artist accounts especially for
uploading music videos called VEVO.
In addition to this, TV, there are millions of channels which spend the whole day showing music
videos on the charts, examples of these are MTV, Viva, 4 Music, The Hits etc.
Alongside all of these, the main website based website which is used for the distribution of
music videos is now Twitter as well as Facebook in which artists themselves can directly upload
their videos to their fans as well as fans are able to upload links and share their favorite artists
music videos.

videos, those of which include: Directors, Producers, Story writers, Actors, Editors, Production
companies, Publishing companies, Distribution companies and most importantly, investors
seeing as without them, there would be no music video due to no money.
