2. • Solderless wire-wrap terminals are firmly fitted in the insulator body
to withstand torque of wrapping tool.
• A wire-wrap connection is a gas-tight electrical connection
consisting of a helix of continuous, solid, uninsulated wire tightly
wrapped around a pin having sharp edges.
• Extended leads allow for multiple wire wrap connections for
prototyping.
• Sockets are assembled with precision-machined receptacles with
multi-finger contact clip and packaged in high temperature
thermoplastic insulators.
3. • Shell or sleeve is made of brass alloy 360 ½ hard for
strength, conductive, and thermal properties.
• Press-fit assembled inside each shell is a highly reliable,
four-finger beryllium copper contact clip, which scores
the mating device lead, forming a gas-tight electrical
and mechanical connection.
• Multi-finger contact clips are superior to stamped pin
wiping connector blades because they provide multiple
points of contact to the mating pin, resulting in
providing better power and force distribution.
• Two-piece receptacle construction (shell and contact
clip) allows for cost-efficient plating combinations.
• Receptacle shells can be plated with tin for solderability.
• Contact clips can be gold-plated for optimum
conductivity.

Note : Both sleeves and clips normally have nickel undercoat to prevent zinc
from migrating to top which can create intermetallic compounds making
sockets difficult to solder.
5. • It is easy to make point to point connections and to repair them.
• Connection are less prone to fail due to vibration and physical
stresses on base board.
• Can make the complex circuit compact.
• Inexpensive because of solderless.
• It is reliable.
• Protects IC’s and other PCB component from damage.
