1. Magazine Planning
Target Audience:
- My target audience for my magazine would be 18-25
year old males who have an interest in modern day
Rock music and alternative Rock music.The majority of
my target audience would also either aspire to be
musicians themselves or already are interested in
singing or playing an instrument.The ideal would be
young bands who are reading the magazine.
- My target audience would also be placed in the group of
‘Aspire’ as their passion in music leads them to want to
either work in music or their main hobby is music.
The reason for my target audience choice is because
the magazine will have similarities between
magazines such as KERRANG! and Rock Sound
magazine, these magazines target audience is mostly
young males which is why I based my magazine on
this.
As well as this, my magazines strongest feature will
be that their target audience will be so involved in
music because the magazine aims to not only provide
their readers with latest Rock music stories, but also
to help my target audience into becoming successful in
the Rock music industry.

2. Magazine Planning
Style and Genre:
- The style of music that will be published and
written/focused about in my magazine will be
based on bands such as Mallory Knox which are
labelled as Alternative Rock, Skillet which are
labelled as Hard Rock and Alternative Rock and
We as Human which are also Hard and
Alternative Rock which is what my magazine
will be focusing on.
- Overall the genre(s) of my magazine which
include:
1. Alternative Rock
2. Cinematic Rock
3. Hard/Soft Rock
- Since my magazine is quite vast in terms of what
type/genre of rock they cover, my target audience
can have in an interest in my magazine even if
they prefer Soft Rock or Indie rock because the
magazine will still appeal to them, since they
genres are very similar.

3. Magazine Planning
Price and Issue:
- The magazine will come out every month.This is for a
number of reasons:
1. Every magazine will be sure to have a lot of new
content because it is every month not ever week
2. My target audience will find it more convenient to
buy an issue every month instead of every week.
3. The price will seem less to pay than having to
continuously pay every week
-The price of the magazine will be £2.00 because my
target audience is quite young, therefore will want to
spend as little as they can, also, KERRANG! costs £2.20,
so the fact that my magazine will be cheaper and offer
very similar plus more content.

4. Magazine Planning
Look and First Edition:
- Even though my magazine is going to have
similarities between KERRANG! it will not be
formatted like a newspaper, it will be glossy such as
the magazineQ Magazine.The reason for this is to
attract my target audience more by presenting the
presentation nicely since the human instinct is to first
see what appeals to them personally and then check
the content. Sad but true.
- The first edition will include Mallory Knox on the front
cover because they will offer my target audience a
good base in what to expect in further editions.
Mallory Knox has a very characteristic look as a 5
piece so will cover the front cover nicely and look
intriguing since they are quite new and need to be
discovered.

5. Magazine Planning
Contents page features:
- My contents page will feature help and tips on how to
become successful as a band or musician, this way my
target audie4nce will feel like they are benefiting from
buying and reading my magazine not just pointless
stories.
- My contents page will also feature a lot of images
from recent shoots and or interview pictures.
- My contents page will feature very short sections of
articles and stories just to get the idea and
understand what they are about.

6. Magazine Planning
Appeal and Publisher:
- My magazine will appeal to my target audience as they
are aspiring to become something in music or enhance
their musical talent and my magazine will help that by
providing key tips and support. My magazine will also
inform them on bands and musicians that they are
interested in (rock) not in any other.
Appeal and Publisher:
- My publisher will be Bauer Media as they publish
KERRANG! magazine so will include a different yet
similar magazine in their group as well. Bauer will want
to publish my magazine because of the unique approach
we have, and we believe to not only provide articles and
stories but encourage our target audience to succeed in
their rock musical talent.
