Summary of Philosophy
The virtuous person in society takes responsibility for their own actions, accepts cultural differences,
and takes interest in understanding and learning about other cultural values. The purpose of lifelong
learning is to teach students how to evaluate their thinking and encourage personal growth. A lifelong
learner accepts changes and constantly re-evaluates his or her views by consciously listening to, and
learning from others.
I believe in teaching the quintessential values of sharing, caring, and respecting one’s cultural
diversity. I believe these values facilitate in building a strong, ethical and thoughtful individual. Every
student should be proud of their cultural background and feel safe when entering our classroom. The
nature of learning consists of individual growth and assessment, as well as being able to work
collaboratively within a group.
Each student is unique as they have their own, individual needs that must be met in order for them
to be successful in their educational goals. By not only emphasizing a student’s similarities, but also
learning from a student’s differences, students will learn the meaning of unity and teamwork within a group
environment. Furthermore, teaching does not end with the teacher-student relationship. In fact, there must
be an equal partnership and inclusion of a student’s parents, for communication with them is vital to the
success of their child’s growth and development.
