February 2015-Present Cedar Springs Public Schools Resource instructor.
Serving Middle School and Elementary students with reading and writing instruction. Team
teaching Language Arts and other collaborative efforts with general education instructors.
Participated in development of IEP documents for new students and proctored M-Step tests for
Middle School and Elementary special education students. Assisted general education teachers
with development of teaching units and behavior plans.
November 2013-June 2014 Lighthouse Academy K-8 Transitions instructor.
Served 3rd-8th grade students in a residential setting as well as HS special education
students. Responsible for all content areas. Serve on the Smart board advance user group to
assist staff with developing content delivered via Smart board technology. Serve as a mentor
to newer educators. Coordinate paraprofessional and ES staff duties to ensure educational
excellence and quality of care consistent with Wedgwood standards.
January 2012-June 2013 Greenville Public Schools MiCI and Resource instructor.
Served Middle school MiCI students delivering instruction in Mathematics, Language!, Body
Systems, and Government. Pioneered using Fountas and Pinnell reading in conjunction with
Reading AtoZ materials. Served High School resource students, delivering instruction in
Chemistry/Physics, US History and team taught World History. Provided lunch hour and before
school tutoring for special education and general education students.
June 2006– August 2011 Lakeview Community Schools Fourth grade
general education, MS Resource, Alternative Education Director. Responsible
for general education instruction and collaborative support for twenty-eight students.
Coordination of field trips and other student activities. Also responsible for providing
instruction in Computer technology for use both in and out of the classroom.
Lakeview Community Schools continued,
Received training for Battle Creek Science Kits and Lucy Calkins Reading and
Writing programs. Participated in start up training for McRel evaluation system.
Responsible for implementation and development of student IEP documents.
Provide academic supports for students having 504 plans. Team teaching in Math
and Language Arts. Program serves students with wide range of disabilities,
providing academic and behavioral support. Developed High School Alternative
Education program. Created student handbook and developed curriculum,
administer online coursework and ensure compliance with State standards.
Managed student behavior programs, work in collaboration with special education
department to serve special education students in AE program. Mentor probationary
H.S. special education teacher. Presented at MAEO Conference Spring 2009.
2004-2005 Montcalm Area ISD Classroom teacher for middle school students
having emotional impairments. Responsible for all content areas. Developed a pre
vocational program. Received CPI training.
1998- 2004 KEC Mayfield Grand Rapids MI Classroom teacher for severely
emotionally impaired middle school students. Responsible for all content areas as
well as behavior management interventions. Building Technology Specialist, BIT
Committee member. Received CMH Physical Intervention training. Served as
supervising teacher for student teachers from GVSU.
