The document discusses Muvizu, an animation software that allows for rapid 3D rendering. Some key facts include:
1) Muvizu can render animations much faster than traditional methods, using the same game engine as Bioshock and Gears of War.
2) It has a "toon shading" tool that gives animations a comic book style.
3) Animators recorded their own movements with Kinect to make character actions more life-like.
4) The building where Muvizu is based was a famous architect's first commission.

Ten facts you might well have
missed about Digimania’s globally
popular, rapid, real-time render
software
The animation software Muvizu has been around
and constantly evolving since 2009. You might
think you know a lot about it but what if what you
think you know you don’t know at all? Indeed, what
you thought you might have known, you might only
be finding out right here and now.

The traditional route to rendering 3D
animation can involve anything from a few
hours to a couple of days for more complex
sequences. Muvizu’s Unreal Games Engine 3
powered app totally trumps this by rendering
in a tiny fraction of this time.
The same engine is used in games like
Bioshock, Batman and Gears of War.

Toon shading is a cool tool in Muvizu
which not a lot of people know about –
the ‘environment’ editing tool allows you
to change the style of Muvizu completely
and gives a more bubbly/comic book look
with hard outlines and increased shading.
4. three
Regular Muvizuers will be familiar with the
long list of actions that bring the characters
to life. When the latest character Rosie was
added earlier in 2013 these actions were
made even more life-like through
performance by the Muvizu artists
themselves. The animators used an Xbox
Kinect to record the actions which were then
applied to all the ‘human’ Muvizu characters’
movements.

architect Charles Rennie
Mackintosh in 1895. It
was his very first public

Some of the Muvizu team were originally
behind the software design for Ananova,
an online news service that featured the
world’s very first computersimulated newscaster as an embodied
agent named Ananova programmed to
read newscasts to Web users.
Given a distinctive look and personality
based on celebrities Victoria
Beckham, Kylie Minogue, and Carol
Vorderman she was a 28-year old "girl
about town" who stood 173 centimeters
(5ft8in) tall and loved the band Oasis and
the TV show The Simpsons.

The software also includes an option to
render videos in TARGA sequences - the
video is rendered in images instead of as
video. Great way for advanced users to
edit frame-by-frame.

There are a series of four secret Easter egg codes
hidden within Muvizu – finding them unlocks some
animated treats.

There are some awesome creative
pedigrees in the Muvizu/Digimania
team – a handful of ex-Disney and BBC
creatives, one of the art team draws
Judge Dredd for the 2000AD comic
book and three of the team regularly
rock out in bands. Cool!

We’d love to be able to tell you there was a
fabulous, romantic story behind the Muvizu
name… but we understand there just isn’t!
We reckon we can make up at least three…
