1. What Kind of media Institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
Mustafa Oztekin
2. The product for which we have created has a very low budget considering we do not have
the financial resources to produce an opening sequence that will be shown on channels e.g.
FOX. However, with the resources we were given we were able to produce an opening
sequence with aspects that can be considered high standard for which; we have used our
budget and our knowledge sensibly and appropriately, producing an acceptable opening
sequence to achieve a good grade for our coursework.
Organisations / companies that would have produced or distributed our media product
would have been Film 4, Moon spun etc. Our product would not have been distributed by
e.g. Disney or Warner Bros considering their expectations for films are considerably high
with a high budget in the production process, for which their audience are wider than our
one. Therefore, our product would possibly be distributed by Film 4 and produced by them
considering, they have made low-budget movies such as, ‘The Selfish Giant’ (along with
Moonspun) and ‘A Field In England.’ Film 4 distributed movies which have a niche audience
whereas Disney, have distributed movies such as ‘Rogue one: A star wars story’ which has a
mass audience.
3. Our audience is rather niche considering it’s targeted at the young audience (late teens / young adults) rather
than the older generation or children. Below are examples of the difference between international distributors
and independent distributors for which will show why our product will most likely be distributed by a more
independent institution:
International Distributors /Institutions Independent Distributors / Institutions

As seen above, our media product will most likely be distributed by Film 4 considering our product consist the genre,
drama, for which ‘The Selfish Giant’ is. The budget of the ‘Selfish Giant’ is much higher than ours however; the genre
and the audience for which our extract consist would suit Film 4. The ‘Selfish Giant’ was more successful in the UK
rather than Worldwide compared to Rogue one. Our product will be like this as the setting, characters, dialogue we
used etc, will be more understood by the young UK audience rather than worldwide audiences as they will be able to
familiarize themselves with the opening sequence more.
4. In terms of exhibition, the opening sequence we have created will be shown in small
screens / independent cinemas such as the Art house in Crouch End as well as the
Croydon Clock tower (small Screens). Due to excessive developments of technology,
digitalisation will enable the audience to view our extract online and stream it rather
than going cinemas potentially. Commercialised cinemas such as VUE or Cineworld,
are unlikely to show our extract considering it does reach their expectations for a high
quality product.
Art House and Croydon Clock Tower
Vue Cinema (Purely Way) and Cineworld.
