2. 1) Checking availability of IPv6:
To check, whether your current running kernel supports IPv6, Start the server machine, and log
on with username and password .take a look into your /proc-file-system. Following entry must
exists:
ls /proc/net
Output should be like this:
If above command fails, it is quite possible, that the IPv6 module is not loaded. Just login as root
and enter the following command:
modprobe ipv6
3. 2) Functionalities of IPv6
To test if IPv6 is loaded, you may run the following command:
test -f /proc/net/if_inet6 && echo “IPv6 is loaded” || “IPv6 is not loaded”
If you see the echo “IPv6 is loaded” , your system is ready to support
IPv6 capabilities.
3) Displaying Addresses of IPv6
I’m using Linux, and I want to show IPv6 Addresses, for this purpose I have to run following
command after check availability of IPv6:
Cat /proc/net/if_inet6
The output should be like this:

5. We can also check IPv6 address by above command:
Sudo ifconfig
4) Using ipv6 tools
➢ By using ping Command:
To ping the address for eth1 on the server to test if eth1 can respond to the ping6 command.
Enter the following command
The output shows that the connection between the client and server is working properly.
6. ➢ By using Traceroute Command:
Trace the route between client machine and server machine. Enter the following command
in the terminal on the client machine:
